In business terms, do you expect 2013 to be better than 2012?

Yes, I’m pretty booked up for the summer months.

What is your most important piece of machinery/ equipment?

My two pairs of Felco secateurs, I use one for pruning only and the others for everything else.

What is the busiest time of year for you? May! The nicer weather gets people into their gardens and then they realise it’s too much for them to do.

How important is social media as a means of communication with clients?

I need to work on it – I’m starting a blog and using Twitter more.

Mostly through my website and also via previous contacts.

Best book you’ve ever read?

Garden Design by Kenneth Midgley, and the many by John Brookes.

Your most inspirational garden? Wollerton Old Hall Garden, Shropshire.

Your dream job? Working with Sylvia Crowe or Geoffrey Jellicoe.

What would people be surprised to learn about you? In 1974 I starting designing a digital camera, it was very similar to the modern compact Canon G11 I use today, with removable memory card, and the ability to see the pictures and modify them.
