London College of Garden Design At the London College of Garden Design our aim is to provide world-class inspirational garden design training. Our professional one-year Garden Design Diploma is based in the Orangery Conference facilities at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. Short courses including our popular CPD evening info bursts are held at Regents College. We also provide garden design courses for the Royal Horticultural Society at RHS Garden Wisley. Coming up in 2013-14 we have courses in contemporary planting design, design solution days for specifi c garden challenges and design development days for kitchen gardens and edibles, small gardens, family gardens and public spaces. Our info burst sessions will concentrate on construction design skills, marketing and garden design inspiration. English Gardening School The new 2013-14 course programme at the English Gardening School features: ● Good Gardening: a one year diploma, every Tuesday over three 10 week terms. The main emphasis is on plant knowledge and developing a thorough understanding of how and why plants work, intensive practical gardening sessions also take place at Sandhill Farm House, Rogate, giving students a unique opportunity to experience good design and planting while training in this much respected garden.


Capel Manor College Apprenticeships in parks, gardens and green space have been offered at Capel Manor College for a number of years. The training is high quality and results in success rates of over 80 per cent. In response to increased employer demand the college is now offering a new landscaping apprenticeship programme. Topics cover elements of construction alongside increased knowledge of plants, pests and diseases. Aimed at 16 plus, apprenticeships combine paid work with college training. With college centres across London, the programme can be delivered at a centre that suits the individual. Grants of £1500 are available for eligible employers for apprentices aged 16-24. Other horticulture apprenticeship programmes offered include pathways into cemeteries, sport turf, garden centres and production. A dedicated team of experts are on hand to help you choose the right pathway.

● Intensive Course in Garden Design: a 10 week course for students who cannot devote an entire year to training. Classes take place three days a week at the Chelsea Physic Garden, with site visits to trade nurseries, or specialists in garden lighting, furniture or water. Hard landscaping, plant knowledge and business practice are covered, while during the course students will work on two real garden design projects, giving them the confi dence to take up a career in garden design.


● Garden Makers Days: twice per year, bringing together leading designers and plantsmen to discuss and share their design or planting philosophies. Speakers for this autumn will shortly be announced. For prices and further information, the updated website will soon be available.
