PERFECT SQUARE
Gaynor Witchard Garden Design A place to entertain and hold parties was the brief for this small city garden
make sense to get all the work completed at the same time. The client is a director of an independent wood import and distribution company, which meant travelling all over the world for extensive periods. The area was a very small courtyard and almost square (8m x 10m) – so the garden design really had to work hard to create a feeling of space. It is south east facing, but overshadowed by a huge ash tree outside the boundary which the council would not remove, which meant that much of the garden was in shade for most of the day. The garden budget? There wasn't one – “just get what you want”, was the reply, “but NO FLOWERS!”
