Q Lawns Sustainable Landscaping Event

Q Lawns held their Sustainable Landscaping Event in July which was also part of the company’s 20th birthday celebrations. Chris Carr, Sales & Marketing Manager, welcomed guests and introduced Wayne Grills, BALI Chief Operations Offi cer, who talked about Tackling the Skills Shortage and the recent RHS Horticulture Matters report; he questioned why we are experiencing the current crisis, and what can be done to turn things around. A lively debate ensued, as education

representatives and industry management discussed what was needed. Helen Bostock from the RHS followed, by discussing the RHS Gardening for Schools and the Perfect for Pollinators campaigns and fi nally Tom Hart-Dyke spoke passionately about the World Garden at his family home in Kent and his love for England and its plants. After lunch attendees were treated to a tour around the farm which showed the ways in which Q Lawns have changed their site in favour of sustainability and biodiversity. They were also able to watch turf being harvested, cut and rolled ready to be sent out. Following the tour there was more time for networking and a very impressive bright green Q Lawns birthday cake was cut. www.qlawns.co.uk
