North East Area 14 May:NDS T&RS depot visit (Holgate) and talk Visit the Holgate depot. Time: 13.30 to 15.30. Depot talk by Martin Elwood, NDS director describing the success and challenges for NDS. Time: 17:00 for 17:30 start. 13 June: Social/networking evening The North East Area Council is organising a social event in York. Time: from 17:00. 28 June:Visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway The North East Area council is organising a visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway – time and location to be confirmed. 9 July: The Northern Hub A talk by Rob Warnes, performance & planning director, Northern. North West Area 22 May:Visit to Virgin Trains simulator The North West and North Wales Area council is organising a visit to the Virgin Trains simulator in Crewe. Meet point: Liverpool South Parkway Station (outside) Time: 17:45 for 18:00 16 July: Family social event The North West and North Wales Area council is organising a trip to Llandudno and the Great Orme Tramway and visit to the Pier. South East Area 1 May: Anglia Control Centre visit Learn how Network Rail and Greater Anglia work together to keep the commuter service in and out of London Liverpool Street, the intercity services to Norwich and rural train services within East Anglia running. Booking is required for this event due to limited places. 20 May:No more passing signals at danger? Tom Joyner, Network Rail’s principal operations specialist, will give an insight into how the rail network will operate in the future and how it will affect operators. 22 July:Operating the Alliance Operations director Mark Steward will present to us on how the ‘deep alliance’ between Network Rail Wessex Route and South West Trains has gone so far and what is to come.
