Clare Hollingsworth is new chairman of Eurostar The board of Eurostar International has appointed Hollingsworth to replace Richard Brown, who will step down when his three-year term as chairman comes to an end on 30th June. Brown's decision is tied to his acceptance of the chairmanship of the DfT's Franchise Advisory Panel earlier this year, in addition to his other non-executive roles. The board thanked Brown for his 'major contribution' to the development of Eurostar over the past 11 years and for its transformation from an unincorporated partnership to a unified corporate entity, Eurostar International Ltd, in 2010. Hollingsworth, who has extensive experience of the transport sector, joined the Eurostar board as an independent non-executive director in 2010. Her appointment will become effective on 1 July.
She said: 'Over the last three years the business has been transformed into a successful private entity delivering strong growth. With the arrival of a new fleet of trains and the launch of additional services, we are entering a new phase and I look forward to supporting the Eurostar team.'
Terence Watson appointed Alstom UK president Watson is currently managing director of Transport for Alstom in the UK and Ireland and will retain that role alongside his new one. He takes over from
Stephen Burgin who has moved within the group to become vice president Global Power Sales, Northern and Central Europe. 'These are exciting times for Alstom in the UK,' said Watson, 'as we move into new areas in our core divisions of Grid, Power and Transport.'
Ian Veitch new FTA president After a four year tenure, Stewart Oades has handed over the presidency of the Freight Transport Association to Veitch, managing director of Yusen Logistics UK. Veitch has been a member of the FTA board since 2008 and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He said: 'I am looking forward to promoting our industry as a vital part of our society and our economy.'
Tony Kearns now with Parsons Brinckerhoff
The global engineering consultancy has appointed Kearns as Strategy and Operations director for its UK Rail, Transit and Aviation business. He will be leading the development of the company's UK Electrification business to further support the National Electrification Programme.
Mac Andrade joins board of AzteQ
The transport IT company announced that Andrade, currently director of Maintenance Services at Network Rail, has joined its board as a non-executive director. Andrade will support AzteQ's drive to grow its presence in the rail sector.
