Astec supply stainless steel - ZLP conveyor to snack manufacturer

stec Conveyors were approached by a major snack manufacturer to develop a stainless steel zero line pressure (ZLP) conveyor to meet their specific needs. With hygienic requirements becoming more challenging, particularly within the food industry, Astec Conveyors have experienced increasing demand for a stainless steel product, as it provides a cleaner and more hygienic conveyor solution than those manufactured with aluminium or mild steel powder coated side frames. This Astec system was designed to provide for smooth transportation and product accumulation without product contact or line pressure, plus optimum reliability and easy maintenance.

A Individual product “zones” performance and comfort

he Atlet Tergo range comprises five advanced reach trucks designed to provide the most ergonomic, efficient and productive performance in all types of materials handling operation. The trucks have maximum working loads from 1200 to 2500kg and lift heights up to 12.1m to provide operators with total flexibility and choice across a complete range of applications. The most powerful trucks in the range are designed to stack higher, heavier and faster in the most demanding and intensive 24/7 operations such as retail and food distribution. The smaller and compact models are designed for operations where lighter loads and lower lifting heights are the norm, such as newer and growing businesses, and include the first reach truck from Atlet to offer 1200kg capacity.

were created along the length of the conveyor system, each driven by a 24V brushless motorised roller that in turn drives slave rollers via linking belts. Each zone has a retro-reflective sensor to monitor the path of the products along the conveyor. When the first product moves or is removed from the zone, the following zones (if occupied) are powered to feed forward to the next available zone and index product in sequence. Product can be removed from the conveyor at any location on the conveyor and the system will operate to allow full accumulation.

Investment in fleet sees ACS&T taking control of fuel management

wagons will be used primarily for trunking, retail and foodservice deliveries and come complete with the Renault Optifuel Informax system, a telematics package linked directly into the engine management of the truck. It takes operating parameters from both the engine and driveline and enables previously unavailable fuel usage information to be accessed. The new trucks will be added to the existing

fleet at the company's Scarborough depot. ACS&T is working closely with Renault to ensure all their Euro V trucks are performing correctly, which means the company can take better control of running costs and fuel consumption plus, the cheaper Euro V tractor units offer a better mpg than their Euro VI equivalents. ACS&T operates from four centres in Grimsby, Wolverhampton, Tewkesbury and Scarborough. Its extensive estates include 12 cold stores, three ambient stores, comprehensive co- packing facilities and large, dedicated and shared-user multi-temperature transport fleets.

Effective partnership – Renewal of the SSI Resident Maintenance® service contract with Carlsberg for three more years

C

arlsberg has just extended its SSI Resident Maintenance Service Agreement with SSI Schaefer for an additional three years. The agreement paves the way for a new type of contract in connection with large, complex systems and describes intelligent and differentiated maintenance. To offer a customised service on request is becoming more important than ever. It requires not only expertise,

coordination and resources, but it is also a value-adding partnership with the customer. SSI Resident Maintenance means that an SSI Schaefer team is stationed permanently at the customer‘s site, in this case in Denmark, and works actively and dynamically with the client. The team responds quickly and effectively to problems and participates in work processes and meetings. “With its main logistics centre in Fredericia, Denmark, Carlsberg is an important partner for SSI Schaefer in Northern Europe. EU imposes a new anti-dumping duty on all pallet trucks, manufactured in China

A

s per 22 April 2013, EU has imposed a new anti-dumping duty on all pallet trucks, imported from China to EU countries. The new duty amounts to

70,8%. This means that the price difference between a pallet trucks from China and pallet trucks from e.g. Denmark is now very small. The new anti-dumping duty is imposed on both painted as well as stainless pallet trucks! To Logitrans A/S, Danish manufacturer of material handling equipment, the anti-dumping duty means that the additional price for a Logitrans Panther pallet truck compared to pallet trucks manufactured in China will now be very small. According to Mr Erling Pedersen, President at Logitrans A/S, this will open new opportunities for selling Danish quality pallet trucks! ”We want to stress that it is now not worthwhile to buy anything but our pallet truck – a pallet truck of good and strong Danish quality”, says Erling Pedersen. “Considering all the advantages of our pallet truck, it is worthwhile to pay the very small additional price! Our Panther pallet truck manages 50,000 pump strokes, ensuring a considerably lower price during the operating life than a Chinese pallet truck”.
