Exhibition preview Total Processing & Packaging 2013 Motion products for heavy duty apps

At Total 2013, HepcoMotion will be showing linear and continuous motion products that best meet the needs of

high speed and high duty applications that are characteristic in these sectors. X-Y-Z systems are used in processing and packaging but the needs of various axes vary considerably. This is why HepcoMotion has developed a family of actuators to enable each axis to operate optimally and contribute to the overall efficiency and longevity of the system. One of the stand exhibits will demon- strate this winning combination. Focus products at Total for HepcoMotion will be its PRT2 range. The company’s

design and manufacturing skills allow any size or shape of ring or circuit to be provided. At the show gear

driven rings will feature, as will the compa- ny’s latest innovation, the PRT2 “1-Trak”. One of the benefits of the HepcoMotion

product programme for those involved in food and beverage processing is that stainless steel is a standard choice. HepcoMotion provides a range of stain- less steel and corrosion resistant ele- ments that can be mixed and matched so that the optimum combination of hygiene, wear and performance can be achieved. Vision solutions ideal for handling MultiPix Imaging will showcase a complete family of high performance

data matrix readers, vision sensors, smart cameras and embedded machine vision systems from Datalogic Industrial Automation. The range utlitses Impact Software with over 100 tools, such as image filtering, product location, feature find, measure and flaw detection. With simple software set-up the smart camera range from VGA to 5MP resolution are suitable for processing and packing applications. At Total Multipix will launch the new Datalogic Matrix 450, a high-end indus- trial 2D reader designed for logistic applications. The Matrix 450 enables a range of applications never covered before by a 2D imager meeting the requirements of both auto- mated and manual material handling with the outstand- ing decoding capability Multipix T: 01730 233332 www.multipix.com

High performance metal detection systems Improve speed of changeovers

Tray bake cutter Quasar Automation, specialist in food

automation solutions, will launch its new Soni-Cut tray bake cutting and portioning system at the show. Developed for cutting and portioning tray baked products, the new Soni-Cut system uses a combination of a servo- driven conveyor and three further servo axes, one rotary, to provide flexibility for lateral and longitudinal cuts on a wide range of products, using the latest Ultrasonic technology.

The system has also been designed to allow either fully integrated or stand alone operation, making it equally attractive for low, medium or high vol- ume production. Soni-Cut can be seen fully operational on the Quasar Automation stand at the show. Also on display will be a Staubli TP80

Fast Picker Robot designed to handle small parts, under 1.0kg. The TP80 suits high-speed applications, found in food and packaging industries. Quasar Automation T: 01765 635508 Enter 307 www.quasarautomation.com

Fortress Technology will be showing a Vector integrated con- veyor and metal detector system designed to meet the latest super- market retailer standards by com- prising an audible or visual alarm to indicate when there have been metal rejects in order to help identify potential issues early. It will incorporate a Gravity metal detector for accurate inspection of bulk dry, powder or granular products and feature a robust Stealth control panel spe- cially developed for use in harsh production environments and incorporating a USB port for data capture. Other equipment on dis-

play will include an ultra slim Vertex for detecting freefalling product and Pipeline for inspect- ing liquids and pastes.

Fully compliant with British Retail Consortium and English European Food Safety Inspection Service specifications, the Fortress Technology Vector inte- grated conveyor system is a con- venient and effective all-in-one solution developed to achieve the most accurate inspection results by optimising the performance of Phantom metal detectors. Stainless steel conveyor on display Kensal Handling System will be

displaying a selection of its state- of-the-art products. This will include a full working stainless steel conveyor, so visitors are able to appreciate firsthand the high quality engineering and long-last- ing design of these products, which offer a fast, effective and hygienic conveying solution for the food and beverage industry. Kensal is being joined by new

Improving product changeovers on multi-product lines is presenting tough challenges for processing and packag- ing industries. Sick UK’s new RapCo system, launched at Total 2013, offers a reliable, automated solution to protect product quality and boost productivity. Showcased on stand D12, the RapCo system is the latest innovation from Sick’s range of sensors and sensing systems for factory automation, safety, quality control and track and trace applications.

Systems Partners, Kuka Robotics UK, which will be exhibiting its award-winning KR16 robot. The KR16 will be assigned a special task on the stand to demonstrate its flexibility. Kensal’s new literature will also be available to read or take away. This provides information on Kensal’s range of products and solutions including stainless steel conveyors, palletising sys- tems, Kuka robotic handling sys- tems and a host of ‘one-stop shop’ integrated solutions. Kensal also works in close con- junction with its other systems partner, LITA palletisers, to offer a full integration service and possibilities for consistent cost- effective palletising. RapCo speeds up product changes by adjusting mechanical stops automati- cally through an integrated package of sensors, drives, a controller, display and cabling. RapCo’s settings can be configured via a display and no knowl- edge of plc programming is needed. The result is a system with batch-spe- cific settings that achieves speed and repeatability while reducing rejects. Sick will also demonstrate its new

deTec4 next-generation safety light curtain which sets a new benchmark for safety while achieving best-possible machine integration and higher opera- tor productivity. Sick UK T: 01727 831121 www.sick.com Enter 309
