To enhance the development of its brand, Connecting Industry (part of Datateam Business Media’s portfolio of publications) has undergone an ABC audit of circu- lation, thus providing advertisers assurance of the brand’s reach and overall brand performance. Connecting Industry (CI) wanted to provide its clients and advertisers with the ability to make informed media buying decisions across more channels as media budgets now span print, online, e-mail etc. With the Connecting Industry website having relaunched in 2012, this also presented an ideal opportu- nity to bring the various titles within the portfolio together under the Connecting Industry
brand in a more measured and harmonised way.
The new ABC multi-platform certificate (MPC) was used as it is ideally positioned to assist in the cross platform audit for the CI group of titles and provide multi- channel reporting i.e. print, e- news, web marketing etc, which has allowed advertisers to buy their media across a variety of titles and channels. The MPC has allowed CI to cement its brand
position within the industrial sector and has allowed the pub- lishing team greater insight into their subscribers and confidence in the quality of their database. Datateam Business Media’s cir- culation manager, Alex Wetton, said: “As the only industrial pub- lishers to have invested into this fantastic multi-platform certificate we are delighted to be able to have the endorsement of the ABC as we continue to invest, market and promote our magazines, newslet- ters and website to the industrial sector. This offers unrivalled opportunities when discussing our customers’ requirements against that of our competitors.” For more, visit our website:

igus launches bespoke bearing assembly service
Plastic plain bearing specialist igus UK has launched a new cost-effective manufacturing ser- vice – speedifit – which supplies bespoke complete bearing assemblies, enabling customers to save time and money. The housing is manufactured to custom requirements, fitted with an igus bearing, and sup- plied as one whole unit, ready to install. A speedifit part is made by taking a standard or custom iglidur plain bearing, and fitting this into a bespoke housing machined to a customer’s drawing and specifications. Any igus bearing can be fitted
into a housing which can be manufactured from many materials including aluminium, anodised alu- minium, mild steel and stainless steel, titanium as well as common engineering plastics. The service requires just a few steps. The customer sends igus the assembly and housing drawings to
speedifit@igus.co.uk, and they receive a quote typi- cally within 24 hours. Once ordered, the custom part and the complete assembly is produced and delivered ready to install, within the confirmed lead-time.

year. Its focus on SaaS (Software as a Service) solutions has gained rapid acceptance within the small- and mid-sized business market because they don’t require either upfront capital investment or on-premise IT support. New technology developed by KeyedIn has enabled the devel- opment of levels of customisa- tion and functionality said to be previously unavailable to the smaller enterprise. KeyedIn Manufacturing provides a visual view of the shop floor which allows managers full visibility into the schedule and control of processes. It also integrates with QuickBooks and other applica- tions to provide a seamless view of financial information. The easy-to-use interface and ‘per user’ cost means businesses with as few as two people can ben- efit from state-of-the-art technol- ogy. KeyedIn expects the typical user to be a small to mid-sized and niche manufacturing operation.

Sales revenue of hazardous area equipment in the Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA) region will grow by less than half of what was estimated in 2012, but will sta- bilise from 2014 onward, accord- ing to an IMS Research report. Revenue in 2013 for hazardous area equipment is forecast to reach €2.67 billion, growing at 5.2 per cent. Next year this is expected to improve when revenue hits €2.91billion, representing growth of 8.9 percent. By 2016, revenue is expected to reach €3.4 billion. The market for hazardous area equipment is influenced by capi- tal expenditure in the oil and gas industry, said John Morse, author of the report. “Not all orders for any specific project are issued the moment a project is awarded. Orders are scheduled throughout the build, so have the effect of delaying and smoothing out the demand pattern.”
