duo’s set became harder as the night went on. After Sebjak and Marcus Schossow’s summer anthem Liceu, the duo closed with Stefano Noferini’s Fact paired with the iconic vocals of Justice’s We Are Your Friends.

Following some pyrotechnics and an impressive lazer show, another Dutch superstar took the stage. Fedde Le Grand’s Flamingo Recordings has had a collossal 2013 and Fedde Le Grand showed Toronto why his label is among the best in dance music. After Daft Punk’s Pharrell assisted Get Lucky, the veteran went on a spree of Flamingo releases. Jewelz and Scott Sparks’ festival destroying Flashbang came before John Dish’s Karma shook the ground at the Rogers Centre. More of Jewelz and Scott Sparks’ thunderous minimal drops came before dBerrie’s Malfunction and Fedde’s own remix of Coldplay’s Paradise. Closing with his Nicky Romero collaboration, Fedde Le Grand once again proved why he’s not only a world class producer, but also one of the best at recognizing young talent.

After another awe-inspiring visual display, it was time for the main headliner of the evening. A couple months removed from his first appearance in Toronto since Identity festival, Swedish house icon Eric Prydz took control of the decks and received a thunderous applause. Like most sets from Eric Prydz, his time in control of the Rogers Centre was more than just stringing a bunch of songs together. Consisting of both new and old selections from his own discography, Pryda effortlessly weaved in and out of a variety of tracks. Opening with the lighter Every Day, the Swede then immediately plunged Sensation Canada into the dark realms of his Cirez D alias. He went back and forth for the remainder of the evening between his melodic Pryda releases and his darker personal edits. Just like

in Miami at Ultra Music Festival, Eric Prydz was our favourite set of the entire evening. In the modern world of electronic music where sets are often a few hours of the most popular tracks, Eric Prydz continues to showcase why many of dance music’s biggest talents list him as their inspiration.

The colossal Rogers Centre has now hosted three dance music events. Deadmau5 and Swedish House Mafia have both graced the home of the Toronto Blue Jays and while those were each special concerts in their own right, Sensation Canada reigned supreme. Over the event’s ten year history around the globe, it has become a dance music phenomenon and after experiencing it for yourself, it’s easy to see why. It was more than a concert, it was an experience. An experience that was so enthralling, it

almost makes this summer’s run of massive events seem less amazing … for now we’re just hoping that Sensation will become a staple in this city’s party calendar.
