3. EXCISION

Widely considered a pioneer in bass music, Kelowna, British Columbia’s Excision will bring even more bass to Canada Olympic Park in early July. Since 2007′s No Escape, the Canadian has been on an absolute tear. With spots at just about every festival you can name and one of the most unique live stage experiences in dance music, Excision is always an assault on both the eyes and ears. Badlands Stampede Music Festival is boasting a sound rig from heavy hitters PK Sound; which means that Excision’s brand of ground shaking dubstep will be heard in full effect.

2. AFROJACK

Nick van de Wall has had the fastest climb to superstar status of any big name DJ. His meteoric rise can be attributed to his high energy sets and of course, his trademark Dutch house sound. A master of high pitched bleeps and wild drops, Afrojack has been a force since bursting into superstar status with Take Over Control. Although some may not be a fan of his radio friendly side, the 25 year old is here to stay. His latest tune called Robot City, released under the brand new production moniker Far Far Away is exactly that, far away from the dutch bleeps that made him famous. The track is a multi- layer deep progressive song that slowly builds a ringing synth into a steady house groove, absent of the traditional Afrojack music drops. He’ll certainly have some unreleased material saved up when he takes the decks at Badlands Stampede Music Festival and we can’t wait for what he unleashes on Calgary.

1. KASKADE

What can be said about Ryan Raddon that hasn’t already? The veteran has released a bunch of studio albums, remixed anyone who’s anyone, and has released some of the biggest tracks in dance music over the past decade. He’s had two Billboard Hot Dance Airplay number ones, graced BBC’s Essential Mix decks, and topped Beatport’s charts many times over. Along with all the quality output from the studio, Kaskade shines behind the decks. He effortlessly places lyrics over other original tracks and is constantly crafting bootleg after bootleg. His sets can go anywhere at any given moment and we can’t wait for what he has planned for Calgary, which will undoubtedly include some unreleased material from his forthcoming album Atmosphere, set to drop in September once festival season cools down.
