I have to ask now, what are you using for head- phones, both to DJ and to produce and why?

When I’m playing I prefer to use the Pioneer HDJ-2000’s, there’s more bass in them. The Pioneers are bigger, more comfortable and the sound is deeper, more bassy. And you want that bass to come through when it’s really loud from the monitors and the club speakers. I had an extra pair of Sennheiser HD-25 II’s that I’m using right now for DJ’ing because I lost my Pioneers one night. Those are good to have because I know that a lot of DJ’s and industry people listen to tracks on those headphones so it’s a good reference. I think those are the best selling DJ headsets actually, at least in the UK. For producing I use Beyerdynamics, which are just fantastic. They’re just crazy headphones, just unbelievable. Quite expensive, but that’s the best investment I’ve ever made. It’s really important to have a good headset for producing, and the one I have is called the Beyerdynamic T1. Those and the monitors are the most important part of my studio.

Let’s talk about your release schedule, are you still focusing on one track at a time, or is there an album coming?

I’m just doing it track by track really. I have a two-track EP lined up now, with deeper stuff like Nightride which I released on Pryda Friends. I’m really excited about that one actually, I feel like it’s some of the best work I’ve ever done so it’s going to be interesting. Other than that, I always have these small ideas that I save for an album one day. My management would love me to do an album, but DJ albums don’t do that well I think. It’s going to be an album with more electronica stuff I think, but all in the right time. Right now I’d rather spend my time working on good singles and doing some remixes here and there.

Where can your fans catch you this summer, do you have any North American dates set?

There’s going to be a lot of cool gigs this summer, we’ve got many festivals lined up in America and the UK so that’s going to be fantastic, looking like a busy summer so far. Probably the most special one for me is Burning Man in the Nevada dessert, that’s a crazy festival. I’ve never been but I’ve seen films and pictures, and I’ve heard about it from different places and it’s quite an interest- ing, spiritual place for many people, so it should be awesome. I’m also playing Electric Zoo in New York and Wavefront in Chicago, so we’re trying to build some more stops around in around those ones.

Thank you for putting together this stunning guest mix for us, tell us about the selections.

I thought I’d take the opportunity to make something a bit out of the ordinary from what you would normally expect from me. I wanted to share some of my favourite tracks in an interesting way, emphasizing the more atmospheric part of my sound. I tried to create a flowing vibe that blends and builds with depth and atmosphere. Listen and enjoy!
