Since AXA Power is in constant dialogue with major aircraft manufacturers, the AXA Power compact GPU and the AXA Power Coil have been designed to cope with the Power Factor 1 requirements. Also, they fulfill the high inrush current requirements (1100 A).

Further, the AXA Power units will accept up to 3.5 seconds of interlock delay, which may occur from time to time. In short, the AXA 2300, as well as the AXA Power coil, are ideal for the supply of modern aircraft. AXA Power says that it has many big deliveries on the books for the year to come. Once again, the UK, with major deliveries to London’s Heathrow as well as to Gatwick, seems to be a front runner. There is also a framework agreement with Aéroports de Paris to supply Terminal 1 with a vast number of units over the years to come, which will push France into the top three list along with Saudia Arabia where AXA is going to supply Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International airport, Madinah, with power supplies and pre-conditioned air units. Finally, AXA, feels that there are reasons to believe that Russia also will be challenging the top three listing.
Hitzinger: plenty of interest
Business has been brisk for the Austrian company Hitzinger: the German Air Force, says Jochen Philip, has taken 95 GPUs and the main markets, especially those within Europe, have expanded. “Having set up an office in Singapore, we have been successful
in concentrating on the Asian and Pacific marketplace,” he adds. There have also been some developments within the production line. The company’s D POWER now runs on 1500rpm and is fitted with a newly developed alternator. Hitzinger’s S POWER, a Solid State Frequency Converter for stationary and mobile applications, is deemed to be even more efficient now and the manufacturer’s JET POWER, a small GPU for executive aircraft of up to 60 kVA, has been a very popular model over the last year. With the development of the above-mentioned new S POWER has come a totally green solution and one that is emissions-free. “For our new D POWER Unit (a GPU), we
are using a brand new diesel engine design, that of in COM IIIB or Tier IV interim, which are equipped with diesel particle filters that reduce emissions to a minimum. “Because of the fact that our GPU is running with an operational speed of 1500rpm, our new D POWER model currently has the lowest fuel consumption on the market. I would add that a lot of our customers prefer diesel-driven units which have the lowest levels of fuel consumption. However, we are also seeing electrical converters becoming more and more popular.”
