Australia’s ‘Best Job in World’ is back

campaign, one of its most
successful promotions in recent years, is back for 2013, this time featuring six alluring jobs in six states and territories. The positions, each with a six-month
contract and salary package worth AUD $100,000 (approximately £67,380), are: Lifestyle Photographer (Melbourne); Chief Funster (New South Wales); Outback Adventurer (Northern Territory); Park Ranger (Queensland); Wildlife Caretaker
(South Australia) and Taste Master
(Western Australia). But before you all start dreaming of sunnier climes, the application date for entries has now closed with an amazing 434,627 entries! Perhaps not surprising is the fact that applicants from the UK exceeded any other country with a massive 52,403 entrants.
The original Best Job campaign, a
Queensland Tourism initiative in 2009, attracted over 34,000 applicants. The new initiative is the centrepiece of
Tourism Australia’s international focus on promoting Australia’s Working Holiday Maker visa programmes and is available to 18-30 year olds. (The working holiday visa combines 12 months of travel with plenty of job opportunities across various jobs, giving young people the chance to live the Aussie lifestyle, discover the country and earn a wage.)
