For David Hazell and his co-directors the hard work over the last 12 months is now beginning to pay dividends

Harvey, the formation of CPH has been somewhat of a challenge but the dividends are now swiftly beginning to pay off as they put the last 12 months behind them and concentrate on their new hire venture. “Our first reaction at the collapse of the Doyle Group and Blythewood Plant was to attempt a management buy-out, but unfortunately this proved unsuccessful – as did an attempted purchase. We knew we could keep the plant side of things going so the three of us decided to go it alone and so CPH was born,” says David Hazell.

Becoming operational in September 2012 and not far from Blythewood’s old premises, CPH set up shop with an expansive yard, workshop facility and storage for their fleet when not on hire at nearby Cole Green. “It was important to stay close to our existing customer base and as such we’ve managed to retain a core of key customers as well as suppliers such as Volvo CE who have supported us through this metamorphosis,” continues David.

Born out of the demise of the Doyle Group which found itself in the hands of the administrators last year, Complete Plant Hire (CPH) has set its stall out with a comprehensive range of equipment and is already demonstrating a robust and healthy hire book going into 2013.

And the Volvo package comprises of a comprehensive list of rollers and compact excavators ranging from 1.5 to 8.8 tonnes. In addition CPH has been helped by Volvo CE’s utility dealer Capital Plant Solutions in sourcing low houred quality second hand Volvo utility equipment to swell the fleet which now ranges from anything from a hand drill to a 9 tonne mini excavator. “Within a short space of time we’ve now amassed some 150 items of mobile plant all of which are available for self-drive hire and to be honest, as we see things right now, we could do with a good deal more,” says David. “Our turnover is increasing dramatically each month and we are now looking to recruit additional personnel to complement the original team that showed the courage to come with us when we set up. The light is definitely in view at the end of the tunnel!”

Complete Plant Hire offers a comprehensive range of small compact and utility equipment with its headquarters located at Cole Green near Hatfield.

Capital Plant Solutions is Volvo Construction Equipment’s utility dealer covering the northern Home Counties.
