The new arrival, which has been supplied by Volvo’s utility dealer SM Plant Sales, replaces an EC55B model and joins a fourteen tonne Volvo EC140C complete with a dozer blade purchased at the beginning of last year, an older EC140BLC, a Volvo ECR88 compact excavator and a Volvo DD24 tandem roller – the latter purchased in 2010. “I started out in 1999 as a groundworks contractor,” says proprietor Richard Hall. “Since then we’ve become a Limited company and have developed the business to specialise in tree and land clearance and heath land regeneration.


We have been associated with Volvo from the outset and the machines we operate have proved very reliable. Coupled with that, the after sales service from Volvo’s support centre at Horsham and from SM Plant has been excellent and we have an equally excellent relationship with Volvo’s Financial Services team,” he continued. Richard also operates two Volvo road lorries, one being a new FMX purchased in 2011.


Apart from the support he receives from Volvo, the new EC55C was chosen by Richard thanks to the superb reliability and all round performance of the ‘B’ model it replaces. “We started out with the
