VOLVO CE ENTERS INTO A PARTNERING AGREEMENT WITH AL-JON

Volvo Construction Equipment has become the exclusive UK parts and service provider for the Al-Jon range of landfill compaction machinery. All eight of Volvo’s UK customer service

centres have received extensive product training on the US-built machines and the company is

carrying stock of spare parts to support customers in the UK waste handling industry.

“Our primary role is to look after existing equipment,” says Volvo’s Aftermarket Business Development Manager John West. “However, we will also help Al-Jon in the UK with new machine sales through our Special Business Manager Phil Jones.”

There are more than 60 Al-Jon landfill com- paction machines currently operating in the UK, despite having no authorised dealer since 2011. Volvo is offering users a range of customer support agreements (CSAs) for both new and used machines. Its full Gold, Silver and Blue repair and maintenance contracts are available for new machines, with the Silver and Blue service levels for used models.

All CSAs incorporate 250 hour servicing on customer sites with comprehensive oil sample analysis, to warn of potential component wear.

Support agreements provide peace of mind for contractors and companies operating in the waste industry, resulting in reduced operating costs and increased uptime.

The company is also offering an extensive refurbishment facility through the Volvo Refurbishment Programme, to allow customers to extend operating life and maximise the return on their equipment investment. This flexible solution starts with an appraisal of the machine and agreement on the level of refurbishment work to be undertaken, to suit budgets and site requirements. This is backed by a full warranty on all labour and parts used during the refurb work and can be financed through Volvo Financial Services.

With that in mind, Volvo has invested in a used Al-Jon compactor, that can be operated as a stand-in machine while refurbishment work is underway on a customer’s compactor.

“Many of the leading waste contractors are already Volvo customers, and we are finding that they are interested in a refurb offer due to uncertainty in the business,” says Mr West.

Al-Jon Manufacturing is based in Iowa, USA, and has been building scrap handling, car dismantling and waste industry machinery since 1963. The family-owned business has been marketing landfill compaction machinery in the UK since 1998 and has a strong following among contractors. With the security of Volvo’s service and parts back-up in place, it is hoped that the company will make further in-roads into the UK landfill compaction market.

“Volvo’s clear commitment to the core values of quality, safety and environmental care, as well as their commitment to support Al-Jon customers to the highest standards, is a natural fit for Al-Jon,” says Al-Jon’s Vice President Steve Campbell. “We are delighted to be associated with Volvo and we are confident that UK landfill compactor owners will benefit from this new association.”
