distributing Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles in the UK for more than seven years. Director David Miall

Freego

FREEGO HAS vowed to enter 2013 in fighting spirit, having had a rollercoaster ride in 2012 (page 49). Having already developed three new

bikes for the new catalogue, dealers already have a wide choice to fill the shop floor. The first of the new models is the

Wren, a smaller framed, smaller wheeled bike to cater for people with a smaller stature. It is expected at the end of March and reservations are being taken as it is a long awaited and sought after product. Essentially the same spec as the Hawk it will be available as a step-through in the same three colours but with a special edition Lavender colour on a trial basis.

Kudos Cycles

2013 SHOULD be a big year for Kudos Cycles, with an appearance at the London Bike Show already behind them, further demo outings are planned at Redbridge Cycling centre on April 7th, the Peak District’s Manifold Trail on April 13th, Rutland Water’s Hambleton Peninsula on April 20th and the Kent County Show from July 12th to 14th. So if you’re a dealer, but need to try before you buy there’s plenty of opportunity this year to try Kudos’s bikes first hand. The firm has also tentatively announced that it will likely be at the NEC Cycle Show and the Ride Along The Seaside in Kent during August. At £835, the entry level Cobra still carries a

good spec with 21 Shimano gears, Jak-5 mechanical discs and a low-key Samsung 10.4AH bottle battery. The flagship Arriba and Ibex are both priced at £1,295 with the latter of the two being the first bike to use the TCM crank motor, a compact and smooth system that is barely noticeable in the saddle, we’re told. Trade enquiries can be made via 01227

50 BIKEBIZ MARCH The second new model is a Tricycle,

again perpetually requested, we’re told, and following consistent demand will hopefully have the final specifications and design confirmed resulting in a May arrival. The third and most poignant model is the Martin Sport. Named in memory of Martin Lawrence who as many will remember played a major role in the conception and development of the company with John Heath. It was with great sadness Freego were told that he had lost his fight against lung cancer just days after the Cycle Show 2012 at the NEC, where he had worked only 12 months before. 02380 465977

says: "From the very early days, we recognised that service is paramount if Wisper was to grow in the industry. We now have a dedicated service centre in Cheltenham run by true electric bike experts. Our Tech Guys are available to provide our dealer network with expert advice or to arrange parts to be ‘same day’ despatched from our extensive stock with covers all our bikes from the 2005 models to the most recent." Wisper bikes are being used by county councils, hospitals and police forces up and down the country with Sussex Police recently increasing their fleet to more than twenty bikes. Wisper recently announced that they have moved their production out of

Team Hybrid

DEVELOPED USING Falco’s proprietary and patent-pending unique five-phase brushless permanent magnet technology, Team Hybrid’s electric bikes provide the rider with an efficient ride at all times. All 250W and 500W systems have in-

built magnetic and torsional torque sensor so no throttle is required. The system will respond to the slightest amount of torque detected from the

Storck Raddar

STORCK RADDAR Pedelec bikes are built largely with a combination of Swiss-built motors and German design and engineering. The Storck Raddar Multitask has been upgraded for 2013 with the new Shimano Deore 30-speed group set and a new crank brothers finishing kit (stem, bars, seat post). The 25.2v battery combined with the Raddar drive system provides super smooth and quiet power delivery. 0191 493 2654

Avocet

IF YOU’VE already an account with Avocet and are considering dabbling in the power-assist market, the distributor has a few models in its stocks now. One of these is the Harrier, a 20-inch wheeled

folding e-bike, housing a 250W brushless motor and 24V-9AH lithium ion battery, which combined are said to be capable of a 35-45km range on a six hour charge. It’s fitted with a number of extras for the £799.99

price too, including an alloy rear carrier with bungee strap, front and rear lights, folding pedals, 20-inch wheel mudguards and a kickstand. 0161 727 8508

rider and provide just the right amount of assistance. Dealers will be pleased to hear that

wiring is kept to a minimum and components are easily serviceable. What’s more, many will be familiar with the ANT+ command console, a key component of the build, which allows the bikes to communicate with GPS, power meter and heart rate devices. 01329 832068

50 Cycles

50 CYCLES, which now carries over a decade of experience in electric bikes, will next month have stock of two new Kalkhoff models equipped with the NuVinci i360 Harmony fully automatic transmission system. The first is the Sahel i360, which has a clean look and different styles for the crossbar and step-thru versions. The second, Kalkhoff’s Impulse Ergo, has a

really unique feature though. It combines a heart monitor with the NuVinci Harmony and Impulse motor system, with the three components working together to maintain the rider's heart rate at a constant level, whatever the terrain. So if a rider's GP recommends they keep their heartrate at a certain level when exercising, this electric bike will adjust motor and gearing in concert with the heart monitor to march a pre- set heart rate. 50 Cycles MD Scott Snaith said: “We already sell a lot of Kalkhoff e-bikes to customers with health problems who are looking to speed their recovery and continue exercise, but this adds a new dimension to that use.” 0333 900 5050
