BROCADE
This will be the fi rst year that Brocade will be having a presence at Cloud Expo Europe. The company, which was founded in 1995, is an industry leader in providing reliable, high-performance network solutions that help the world’s leading organisations transition smoothly to a virtu- alised world where applications and information reside anywhere. Today, Brocade is extending its proven data center expertise across the entire network with future-proofed solutions built for consoli- dation, network convergence, virtualisation, and cloud computing.
EVOLUTION
A truly virtualised data centre is the foundation for cloud-based architec- tures and IT models. In turn, virtualised data centres require agile service delivery vehicles, including the ability to add network capacity with ap- propriate services on demand, and new levels of operational simplicity in infrastructure deployment, administration, and monitoring. However, the underlying limitations in existing virtualisation and system management tools – as well as the design of current network architectures – have often prevented organisations from meeting the performance, availability, security, and mobility requirements of cloud computing.
In order to simplify the management layer and bring the promise of virtualisation to fruition, the underlying infrastructure – especially the network – must evolve. It must be more fl exible, highly resilient, and much more VM-aware. Brocade is leading the industry effort in this area through the development of new, fl atter Ethernet networks that are spe- cifi cally designed for virtualised data centre environments. This new cat- egory of ‘Ethernet fabrics’ combines the familiarity of Ethernet networks with the data centre-hardened reliability and performance characteristics of fabric technologies such as Fibre Channel. As the global leader in data centre fabric innovation and deployment, Brocade has the technical expertise and over 15 years of experience to deliver Ethernet fabric solu- tions that increase IT agility and deliver a fast ROI.
WHY CLOUD EXPO EUROPE?
Marcus Jewell, who oversees Brocade’s operations across Western Europe, took some time out to speak with CCI about why the company will be having a presence at this years show. “The last fi ve years have seen the IT industry evolve at a rapid pace. Pre-2008, the concept of ‘cloud’ was not something that many organisations had heard of, let alone planned to deploy. However, since 2008 and the dawn of the ‘Virtual Enterprise’ the way we consume in- formation has changed exponentially, and today ‘cloud’ is a key strategic driver for many businesses,” commented Jewell.
Adding: “As more and more businesses look to embrace cloud- based services to drive effi ciency and productivity, they [users] demand that vendors continually innovate services to help them succeed. Events such as Cloud Expo Europe 2013 provide users with the unique op- portunity to obtain insights into cloud innovations, and for Brocade it is a forum for us to educate businesses on why fabric-based networks built on Ethernet fabric technology underpin the cloud.”
