WELCOME HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Welcome to the first edition of CCI of the New Year, and boy what a packed edition we have for you!
This first issue of 2013 comes off the back of an amazing year for the industry, “the year when the Cloud made its mark on the en- terprise agenda”, according to Matthew Finnie, in his cloud predictions article on page 28. As well as Finnie’s predictions we have an inter- esting twist to the normal predictions articles out there in the form of Rob Clyde ‘s ‘Unconventional Cloud Predictions for 2013’. We also have a great collection of articles spanning many interesting and on trend topics – cloud security, cloud compliance, application platforms and the cloud… and if they don’t whet your appetite we also have regular opinions from the likes of The Cloud Industry Forum – see p23.

To kick off 2013 there’s Cloud Expo Europe – 29 to 30 January – which once again promises to pull out all the stops with its offering of some of the biggest Cloud thought leaders and practitioners in Eu- rope all under the one roof. The award-winning event offers a world- class conference programme, with nine streams and eight dedicated theatres, including top industry CTOs, important analysts and over 50 case studies. The show, now into its fourth year, aims to provide visitors with more than just abstract theorising surrounding cloud. It provides visitors with practical ‘how to’ advice from over 150 leading international suppliers, many appearing for the first time in Europe, as well as proven expertise from 130 fresh-thinking organisations from across the globe speaking in the conference.
As the great and the good of cloud computing technology and service providers prepare to descend once more on the National Hall at Olympia, London, CCI took some time out to speak with a selection of exhibitors and speakers to get there views on the event and to see if there were any exclusives that they could give our readers. So what can we expect in the coming year? In short, we here
at CCI believe that Cloud use in 2013 will get real – the industry can stop speculating, hopefully stop cloudwashing, and get down to the real business of incorporating cloud services and platforms into formal IT portfolios and through it all CCI Magazine will be right there with you, covering all the latest news, and giving you our opinions on the latest developments.
