COCO Collection has launched a new and very luxurious private island in the Maldives, Coco Privé Kuda Hithi Island. The island sleeps 12 and comes
complete with private chef, daily spa treatments, premium selection of unlimited beverages, complimentary water sports and scuba dives with a qualified dive master. Highlights of the island include a
mezzanine infinity pool, another water feature with raised fire pit and a vast wine-cellar. Accommodation comprises one grand Master Residence and five luxurious villas for accompanying guests. Sleeping up to 12 in total, each suite is decorated with palettes of natural earthy hues and tactile textures. Coco Privé costs from US$8,000 per night in low season to US$32,500 per night in the high season.
Onyx steps up growth through four brands
ONYX Hospitality Group, best known amongst the UK travel trade for its Amari brand of hotels, is to launch a series of new ventures across four brands in the Middle and Far East. Amari, the group’s 4.5-star brand,
has recently opened in Hua Hin, Thailand, and will soon open its first Middle East property, Amara Doha in Qatar. In mid-2013 Amari Ludhiana will open, representing another first foray, into India. The first of the group’s OZO properties will launch in April 2013, with OZO Wesley Hong Kong. OZO is designed as a 3.5-star brand, with limited service and fewer frills. Another six of these simple hotels are due, including OZO Chaweng Samui, in late 2013, and OZO Pattaya
shortly after. Agreements have also been signed for the development of properties in Colombo and Kandy, Sri Lanka, as well as Malaysia. ONYX’s first luxury venture, Oriental
Residence Bangkok, opened in January 2012 as part of ONYX’s Saffron brand. Saffron will always feature a health club, swimming pool and spa, as well as a signature dining experience, all day dining facility and themed bar. “We aim to be the leading Asian hospitality group by 2018, with 81 properties. Our growth will be focused in Asia (including Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Indochina, Singapore and India), the Middle East and Western Australia,” said ONYX President and CEO, Peter Henley.
