Oman pushes diversity and targets the family market for increased sales
OMAN is stepping up initiatives to broaden its appeal on the UK market. Long Island launches neighbourhood tool kits
LONG Island City, Queens in New York is the first in a new series of neighbourhood tool kits launched to help the trade sell the Big Apple. The fact sheets provide detailed
information on New York’s five boroughs and neighbourhoods such as Soho and include information on getting there –Long Island City is just
10 minutes by subway from Midtown Manhattan –hotels and cultural attractions.
An increasing number of tour operators are featuring New York beyond Manhattan and now include Virgin and Trailfinders. Operators flag up the fact that hotels can be half the cost of a Manhattan hotel room and can easily be less than $200 per night. Agents are encouraged to push the value message. Restaurant Week is now 20 years old, offering deals on meals and there is now also Broadway Week and Off Broadway Week for some great theatre deals. New York City currently has 93,000
hotel rooms and is expecting to have 100,000 by 2014. Next in the tool kit series will be a Brooklyn factsheet.
