welcome TO SELLING LONG HAUL A
STEVE HARTRIDGE EDITOR
BTA’s Travel Trends 2013 report has once again highlighted the always-welcome reminder that the majority of British holidaymakers are reluctant to give up
their annual holiday, no matter how volatile the economic climate. That’s good news for all, as is the fact that demand is expected
to increase for tailor-made holidays – giving flexibility within the security of a package – luxury (see Luxury African Lodges on page 28) and all-inclusive holidays (Family Cruising page 34). Early bookings suggest that
our near neighbours, France, Greece, Italy and Spain will continue to prove popular this year while further afield the USA (see the mid-Atlantic States page 24 and Atlanta page 46) will perform well. Elsewhere, an earlier Post
Office report showed the excellent value now available in Egypt (see page 64) and Asia’s rising star, Vietnam (page 13). This January edition of Selling Long Haul comprehensively demonstrates the enormous range of product available for agents to sell to those many people for whom an annual holiday is the last ‘luxury’ to face the axe. Selling Long Haul wishes everyone in the travel industry a happy, prosperous and healthy 2013.
