SHOW PREVIEW: ISE 2013 Residential solutions

With CEDIA one of the two industry association partners behind Integrated Systems Europe, there is once again an extensive residential technology area on the showfloor

ISE 2013 will see Finnish audio spe- cialist Genelec introducing the G and F Series – a new range of home audio products blending sustain- able materials and energy-saving features with the manufacturer’s professional quality performance. The new models incorporate

Genelec’s Power Management Technology to ensure they meet the forthcoming Energy Related Prod- ucts (ErP) Directive. In addition, the speaker cabinets are made from recycled aluminium so can be reused indefinitely. HAI by Leviton will show its

new Hi-Fi 2 Four Zone, Four Source (4x4) distributed audio system – a more compact and inexpensive extension of its Hi-Fi 2 system. It is said to be ideal for controlling, shar- ing and listening to audio systems in buildings with multiple units, such as homes, hotel suites, condomini- ums and small office buildings. The company says that the Hi-Fi

2 4x4 provides an affordable dis- tributed audio option with 20W per channel that fits directly into a Leviton Structured Media Center wiring enclosure at half-width.

The new 4x4 model allows users to listen to and share music sources with any room that has speakers connected to the device. Both local and remote source inputs are stan- dard features, with optional wireless Bluetooth connectivity.

Starting with interchangeable zone amplifier options, the P100 (40W) and P200 (120W) players, the NuVo Wireless System is said to combine high fidelity and loss- less audio with a quick, straightfor- ward installation and considerable listening variety. It is built a zone at a time to fit a homeowner’s precise needs, while leaving potential for simple additions. Each of the players is its own

source device, delivering streaming internet radio from services such as Napster and TuneIn, ready access to all audio content on a home’s net- work (MP3, WMA, AAC, Ogg Vor- bis, FLAC, WAV), as well as line level and USB inputs for analogue sources or personal thumb drives. The P200 player also offers aptX Bluetooth connectivity. Meanwhile, user-friendly naviga- tion is enabled through the control

apps, available for both Apple and Android phones and tablets.

German cable manu-

facturer Oehlbach is pre- senting its latest power supply range for the high- end segment, the Power- socket. Consisting of four models – three power strips and a built-in ver- sion, which can deliver a safe, fil- tered power supply for up to eight devices – the flagship of the new series is the Powersocket 908, which comes in a solid alu- minium housing. It has eight ter- minals, four of which feature a filtering element, and a separate diode indicates the correct phase connection of the Powersocket. All Powersockets come with separate analogue and digital con- nections (with and without digital filtering). The Powersocket 905 and Powersocket 907 have filtered and unfiltered charging slots, plus an additional two USB slots. A high-level home theatre set- up worth nearly €500,000, on

show in demo room E108, will showcase Steinway Lyngdorf’s new Model LS Concert speaker which is 2.6m tall and 40cm wide. Created as an open-baffle dipole line source without a conventional cabinet, the new Model LS Concert speaker combines the open-baffle technology from the company’s Model D and the line source tech- nology from the existing Model LS. The company explains that the line source construction offers equal volume levels and audio quality across the room and very low distor- tion and power compression. As the individual drivers operate far below their power limit, dynamic head- room is retained even at extremely

high sound pressure levels. The system on show will be

powered by Steinway Lyngdorf’s fully digital Model A1 amplifiers and a Model P1 surround sound processor, which uses the company’s RoomPerfect three-dimensional room adaptation technology.
