Alex Kenji & Richard Dinsdale feat. Kandace

Essential!

Brand new mixes come from Milk & Sugar themselves, as well as David Jones, David Penn, Kolombo, Syke N Sugarstarr, Soul Avengerz, eSQUIRE and Mr. Vasovski. Rather large.

03. PAUL STRIVE ‘Grande’ Rising Music ‘Finally out, this has been a big track for me and is aptly titled.’
04. ANTONIO RICARDO ‘Blindaz (DJ Tonio Remix)’ Definitive ‘The dark and dirty underground sound of Definitive... a new French talent with the
French national hero DJ Tonio on the remix.’

07. UMEK ‘Its Simple But It Works Like Fcuk (DJ PP Remix)’ 1605 ‘The title says it all. DJ PP always gets a big sound on his productions as well.’
08. ANTHONY ATTALLA ‘Sheet Karate (Ramon Tapia Remix)’ Incorrect Music ‘Ramon Tapia is always around with great sounds and wanted to name check him and Attalla on this release.’
09. DJ SMILK & JUAN DDD ‘Collar Bills (Re:You Remix)’ Kling Klong ‘Loving Re:You productions of late... and this is another dirty dancer for those sets in

10. JAN VAN LIER FEAT. DAN DIAMOND ‘Bounce On It’ Definitive This track is dark and dirty and the Dan Diamond vocals really make it a top track
for me.’
After years of learning her craft both behind the decks and in the studio, one of Brazil’s most exciting new talents, DJ Anna debuts on Toolroom Trax with the ‘Seductive’ EP. Pioneering an instantly recognizable, distinctive style, Anna has already carved a niche sound that straddles the balance between deep and driving tech house. Lead track ‘Seductive’ is a shining example, pairing luscious deep keys, energetic tech beats and a vocal line from Miss Enard that epitomizes the EP title. Offering a fresh disco twist, ‘Leave Me’ competes clubby synths and funky melodies against a deeply delicious vocal hook, whilst ‘Aright’ finishes the collection with a unique underground techno flavour.
Pink Skull
‘Definitive Gauze’ EP My Favorite Robot Records 7.0
Julian Grefe and Justin Geller have been working together for the best part of a decade now, releasing a string of singles and albums that have gained the Pink Skull name a hallowed respect. Now Grefe & Geller have joined forces with Joe Lentini (Schematic, L.I.E.S.) for their latest offering, to be released by the ever-excellent Toronto-based My Favorite Robot Records, the label that has stormed its way through 2012 with music from the likes of Jori Hulkkonen. Fairmont, Sasse, Tom Demac & Tiger Stripes. Their addition to this list doesn’t disappoint.
Marc Houle
‘Zorba’ EP WetYourSelf! 8.0
The unstable, detuned bass of ‘I Uh You’ creates a woozy, drunken funk that fans of Houle’s material will lap up, while the uninitiated will no doubt be taken by it’s weirdo charm, a trope that bleeds through the entire EP but really unleashes in the third track ‘Rainysnake”. Overall, ‘Zorba’ is the sound of Houle playing with his influences and playing with his machines. The result, on a rare departure from his new home of Items & Things alongside Magda and Troy Pierce, is a resolutely fun, unique and sometimes bizarre EP.
Maya Jane Coles
‘Easier To Hide’ EP I Am Me Recordings 8.0
‘Easier To Hide’ is taken from Maya’s coming debut album and shows the diminutive DJ’s innate ability to create hooks laden house and electronica; the subtle guitar-driven stomper ‘Over’ is poles apart from the sparse, dub lament of ‘Back to Square One’, whilst Maya ventures into deeper waters with ‘Run With The Wild’. Indeed, this release serves only to further illustrate just how broad Maya’s musical palette is, but with a sound and sensibility that unmistakably threads through the package tying the work into one well rounded whole.
www.djmag.com Zenbi
‘Kick Back’ Stereo Productions 8.0
Washington DC native Chris Porter (aka ZENBI) earns his follow-up release on DJ Chus’s Spanish label Stereo Productions, delivering another tom-fueled stick of tech-house dynamite. The focus of ‘Kick Back’ remains solely on the dancefloor, deftly adorned with a pitch-shifted vocal across an impressive arsenal of syncopated percussion and low-end pressure. Big!
Huxley
‘No Matter What’ Tsuba 8.0
Huxley returns to one of his traditional homes, the ever quality Tsuba imprint, with two brand new cuts and two reworks from house music royalty MK, who since joining up with the Hot Creations crew has been enjoying something of a renaissance. Mixing up house with classic US garage vibes, the original finds Huxley rolling out a deep house bubbler. MK then comes with a straight and dub mix, both structured around classic ‘90s chord arrangements and driven by crisp snare hits. Throw in the stabby ‘Can’t Sleep’ from Huxley and this release is another winner which sees two producers in their element.
