WE love firsts. We also love a good New Year’s celebration. So we are slightly surprised that the Wintersalt Festival is the first of its kind in this dance music loving city-by-the-bay. For the production squad behind the event, however, this is no first time at the rodeo. Eye Heart SF is the team behind bringing some of the largest EDM acts to San Francisco stages over the last decade and is now taking their successful Summersalt Music Festival indoors for a two-day (really three, more on that in a bit) music and art extravaganza at the Fort Mason Festival Pavilion. Teaming with ToTT Global, the festival will also feature national and local visual artists, but the line-up of musical talent is what we stand and applaud. To finish off the weekend (third night we talked about, separate tickets required), Eye Heart SF will be hosting its 4th annual New Years Eve countdown party, ‘The Streets of San Francisco’. That event boasts A-Trak and Craze at the helm - that’s one stellar way to say goodbye to 2012. These A-list DJs have the world at their fingertips and could play anywhere they want to ring in the New Year. If they’re choosing SF, we’re thinking you should consider it too.

The phenomenal talent that is Mark de Clive-Lowe is something that almost can’t be put into words. You have to see this man live to understand what the magic is about – and maybe even then you will still leave scratching you head, but with a definite smile on your face if you can lift your jaw up off the floor long enough. MdCL (we love that there is an acronym) brings us the art of the live remix from the perspective of a classically trained jazz musician, incorporating live instrumentation and vocals to the beats he’s creating on the spot behind an MPC, a few keyboards and a turntable. You will participate and you will dance – guaranteed. This journey over a few hours is known as CHURCH and MdCL is now celebrating a year of rocking stages across the globe alongside some of the most talented musicians and DJs in the world. The anniversary party brings our beloved ?uestlove to the stage, but not behind the drums, behind the decks. This is one stunning evening of music we all wish we could attend. New York, don’t sleep on this! Surprise guests will be stellar, another guarantee. This is mind expansion people, get on it.
