Printers handle five million labels a year
International multi-channel distributor C-Log has chosen Citizen printers to provide shipping labels for the French clothing brand Morgan
itizen CL-S700R printers will be used to carry out a distribution task that requires the labelling of approximately five million items shipped per year to 271 stores in Europe and Asia.

The CL-S700R printer was chosen for several reasons but primarily for its compatibility with the C-Log informa- tion system and warehouse manage- ment software, as Jean-Francois Gentile, logistics engineering manager for C-Log, explains. “The dual emula- tion Datamax/Zebra of the CL-S700R printer was decisive in our choice,” Jean-Francois says. “This dual emula- tion has facilitated the implementa- tion of the printers and their rapid integration into our computer systems. The multilingual option was also an essential criterion due to the distribu- tion specificity of Morgan. In fact, over 40 per cent of all POS are located abroad. Another major advantage is the space gained at the workstation thanks to its small footprint.”
CL-S700 models are designed for ease of use, even in environments where space is limited. The most common operations are accessible from the front of the printer, which avoids having to move the unit to load media or switch access, and paper or even tape can be loaded swiftly. The printers are specially designed for use in industrial environments, and are equipped with solid metal housings. The CL-S700R can print up to 250mm per second, offering a clear and clean paper path that increases printing efficiency and output in all kinds of applications. Because of the
alluff has added an ultra high frequency solution for long ranges to its established range of durable RFID systems. The new BIS-U RFID system with back scattering technology uses RFID labels as transponders. Unlimited read/write cycles ensure rapid, flexible communication even in extremely dynamic applications. Areas of application include material handling technology and intralogistics, the automobile industry, automotive suppliers and any applications where distances of up to six metres are required.

At higher speeds in dynamic mode with BIS U, information on tags can usually be read indi- vidually and in groups independently of their physical position thanks to circularly polarised antenna. The system is said to be easy to configure and just as simple to integrate in higher level systems. Free transmission power selection guarantees convenient adaptation to any application. The base unit in a durable metal housing incorporates highly visible status LEDs, four antenna connections, an RS 232 or TCP/IP interface with bayonet lock and I/O ports for additional functions. Logistics equipment is essential in the performance of C-Log’s logistics services and the company attaches great importance to its choice of part- ners. The labelling of packages to be shipped is an integral part of the order preparation process and printing must be reliably flawless in order to avoid mistakes and wasted time. “The CL-S700R’s reliability, robust- ness and ease of maintenance vali- dated our decision to choose this printer, which has all of the required qualities. We are extremely pleased with our partnership with Citizen, who we can always rely on,” con- cluded Jean-Francois Gentile. Citizen Systems Europe T: 020 8893 1900
