his artist’s rendering of Apple’s stunning new campus in Cupertino, Calif., looks more like we are being visited by a ship from another planet. In one of the last things he did as CEO, Steve Jobs approved the futuristic design, a giant four-floor circular structure that will eventually be the workplace of 13,000 Apple employees. The campus will be powered by its own natural gas generator and a rooftop solar array. Four months before he died, Jobs told the Cupertino City Council that, in typical Apple fashion, the building is meant to be as much a work of art as it is a functional headquarters. Construction for the project is expected to begin later this year and be completed in 2015.
