RELIGIOUS FREEDOM I don’t understand what all of the negative fl ap is about Romney (“Obama vs. Religious Freedom,” July). He is obviously well-qualifi ed for the presidency by experience, character, and temperament. Is it his Mormonism in the land of the free, which espouses freedom of religion?

WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS Wow, when I opened the June issue to Maximum Exposure I thought I was looking at a wonderful Norman Rockwell painting (“Major League Catch”). What a great photo — the expression on the faces, the detail on the cameraman’s face. I am thoroughly taken with this photo. art schultz Sandy Springs, Ga.

GREAT MOVIE THEME A salient point of the plot of the movie, The Greater Glory, is that religious persecution was tolerated so close to the United States (“It’s About Your Right to Practice Your Faith,” July). This story needs to be told to our children.

RUBIO: A GREAT PICK Your excellent cover story on Marco Rubio tells me he should be Mitt Romney’s vice presidential pick (“A Heartbeat Away From the GOP Ticket: The Front-Runners,” June). I always look forward to Ben Stein’s articles, as they refl ect good, sound monetary policy. Why doesn’t Romney put him in charge of the country’s monetary policies? charles foot Palm Desert, Calif.

A COURSE ON OBAMA Obviously an authority is little more than an opinion in this case, an explanation of our attempt to explain why our country’s fi rst black president should have a second term makes little sense (“Harvard Calls It: Obama to Win Re-election,” June). We are dealing with a person who

is paranoid, insincere, dishonest, immature, and anti-American. Will a college class attempting to explain, via “Understanding Obama,” have any impact?

robert erickson Flowery Branch, Ga.

POSSIBLE VP CANDIDATES Not mentioned in any of the categories is a candidate I would have thought high on any list: New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (“Why Romney’s VP Choice May Be the Game Changer,” June). mel glickman Surprise, Ariz.

Bobby Jindal is a fi ne successful governor, who is mature with both feet on the ground. He would make an outstanding campaigner, a fi ne vice president, and one heck of a fi ne president. He has the courage to do it all.

samuel dimuzio St. Augustine, Fla.

NEGATIVE & NASTY ELECTION Mitt Romney must get tough with President Obama on the campaign trail and in the debates (“Obama’s Campaign Will Be the Most Negative Ever,” June). The main issue will be the poor economy and Obama will say he inherited it. Romney needs to place the blame where it belongs. daniel b. jeffs Apple Valley, Calif.

TRUMP’S STAR POWER Please, Mr. Trump, save America from Obama and his ilk (“Donald Trump Has 2012 Star Power,” July)! irene fassam Blacksburg, Va.

If Mitt Romney chose Donald Trump for a running mate, he would get my vote because he has great ideas. paul brown Parsippany, N.J.

SEARCH FOR ALIENS In the interesting but somewhat depressing June article, “Join the Search for Aliens,” the side snippet, “What if We Find Life Out There,” includes a terrifying statement from the International Academy of Aeronautics stating that if a signal is confi rmed from outer space, no response will be made until fi rst “seeking guidance and consent of a broadly representative international body, such as the United Nations.” The corrupt U.N. is as far from being broadly representative as is imaginable. Contact with the U.N. would

virtually assure any alien life would deem the earth a waste of time and blow it to smithereens.
