It’s mission accomplished as delegates gain qualification

More than 40 delegates from a range of healthcare and other occupational areas travelled from across the country to a study day hosted, delivered and co-ordinated by SYR, the southern branch of the AHCP and Environmental Excellence Training and Development Ltd. Scot Young opened the proceedings by welcoming all to the

facilities. He gave a brief insight into manual, cutting-edge modern technology, and described the way forward for those who really wanted to demonstrate ‘thinking outside of the box’. His address, although short, was thought-provoking and topical

and inspired those involved to plan a further workshop designed to embrace the most imaginative manual cleaning systems you will ever come across. The study day was extremely well organised, enabling all delegates to complete an intermediate level qualification associ- ated with Environmental Awareness. This success was due to effective co-ordination and manage-

ment by Matthew Rea, healthcare manager of SYR; Chris Behrendt, Roy Seymour and Lee Peddle of the AHCP southern branch and Delia Cannings, CEO of Environmental Excellence Training and Development.

Network During the day the delegates engaged in a number of interac-

tive activities and the newly-equipped, state-of-the-art auditorium together with its sophisticated audio visual system created a wonderful atmosphere. Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a Wonderful World’ powerfully contrasted with a film showing global destruc- tion and devastation. Although the delegates worked hard to achieve the desired outcomes, they found time to network and enjoy their day. The tutors from Environmental Excellence were noted as thoroughly professional; their presentations were varied and interesting, incorporating interactive work, and humour made the presenta- tion come alive. ratitude was expressed to the SYR team for the magnificent

hospitality and a special thanks went to Mandy Allman who man- aged the excellent lunch and refreshments, ably assisted by Julie Twohey and Dave Ridgard. A splendid day ended with a free raffle with satisfied winners

leaving with a range of items including chocolates, luxury biscuits, a single malt whisky and the absolutely completely environmentally friendly mopping system designed totally from recycled waste! In all it was a most successful event with another 40 potential green warriors focused on the evolving eco-challenges. The AHCP co-ordinators, as well as the companies repre-

sented, have received requests for further similar events. Environmental Excellence will be glad to deliver further training at the splendid SYR study centre. Plans are underway and dates will be advised in the next edition of SYR  Press.
