Microfibre, mega clean

When it comes to cleaning cloths and wipes, microfibre is fast becoming the number one choice for many environments. Ramon Hygiene Products shares the benefits and the products.

Microfibre has become, more and more, the cleaning cloth that suits the needs of cleaning and is now used by most progressive cleaning contractors. In recent years, hospitals and many other industries have successfully implemented systems using microfibre to improve hygiene and reduce costs for both cloths and mops.

Microfibre is usually made up of 80% polyester and 20% polyamide. It becomes microfibre when the fibre weighs less than one gram per 10 kilometres of length. The material, which is treated to cause each fibre to split, creates microscopic cutting edges that cut and trap dirt and bacteria into the cloth. The cloths remove dirt, grease and bacteria from all surfaces. The cloths can be wet or dry but for best results, use damp. There is no need to use chemicals if preferred, as they clean with just water and remove up to 99.9% of bacteria from surfaces. They also remove the need for expensive chemicals and reduce water consumption.

Ramon Hygiene Products, a UK based manufacturing company, supply a range of microfibre cloths under the ‘Optima’ brand including the ‘Micro’ general purpose microfibre cloths to their ‘Premium’ cloth, all of which are colour coded to assist in the prevention of cross-contamination and for use in all areas. We have also improved the contract version

our ‘Shine’ cloths which offers out standing performance at great value prices.

A new addition is a colour coded semi- disposable microfilament cloth now supplied 200 sheets per roll. This product is superb for outlets that wish to have the benefits of microfibre but do not have access to laundries and also healthcare market. A heavier version of the microfilament cloth is also available in the Optima ‘Evolution’, which allows most dirt to be released from the cloth simply by rinsing. This allows greater use before sending it to the laundry.

With outstanding cleaning power, microfibre cloths are more effective than conventional cloths, as they give quicker results and leave surfaces clean and smear free. The cloths should be folded twice to create

a pad with eight clean sides. When one side is loaded with dirt, refold to create a new clean surface. The dirt remains trapped in the cloth until the laundering process. The cloths can be laundered up to 500 times at 90ºc providing long life and low whole life costs. What more could you want in a cleaning cloth?
