Summer fun on tap for Youth Tour winners T


hanks to Northwestern Electric Cooperative and its proud tradition of supporting the youth in our service territory, Taylor Flanagan and Hammons Hepner won’t have  exciting to do this summer. Taylor and Hammons won an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. in Northwestern Electric’s 2012 Youth Tour Contest. They will spend  nation’s Capitol.


Raveena Bhakta and Chelsie Fraser captured a spot at the 2013 Touchstone Energy Leadership Summit along with a $250 college scholarship. Taylor is the daughter of Brian and


Tonna Flanagan and is a junior at Ar- nett High School. Hammons attends Mooreland High School and is the son of Monte and Lisa Hepner.


Raveena Bhakta, Hammons Hepner, Taylor Flanagan and Chelsie Fraser  represent NWEC during this year’s Washington Youth Tour. Raveena and Chelsie will receive a $250 college scholarship along with the opportunity to participate in the 2013 Touchstone Energy Leadership Summit.


Raveena, a student at Shattuck High School, is the daughter of Mahen and Anna Bhakta. Chelsie is a junior at


Sharon-Mutual High School. Her parents are Bruce and Kimberly Easta- brook.


NWEC announced the 2012 scholarship winners during its annual meeting held on April 5. Thurman Fussell presented the awards to this year’s recipients—Caleb Broce, Sarah Patton, Jaden Crocker, Brandi Blasdel and Allison Meinders.

Northwestern Electric established the scholarship in 2001 in memory of Max Fanning and in honor of Thurman Fussell. The board and management chose to name the scholarship after these two men because of their dedicated service to the Cooperative and their communities.
