CHANGING PLACES AT NSL


JOINED-UP SERVICE IN BEDFORDSHIRE


Digital parking has become a reality across central Bedfordshire, as the council becomes the fi rst UK local authority to integrate the operation of its parking machines with a phone parking service.


The solution means that all purchases of parking sessions – whether made by phone or paid by the methods available on the machine – are recorded centrally on a single enforcement database, thereby allowing high-speed enforcement. Pay-by-mobile phone specialist RingGo has joined forces with parking equipment provider Metric


to introduce the payment system, which allows all information about the transaction to be entered into a central database. Civil enforcement


offi cers access real-time information, enabling them to do a quick check on vehicles for valid payments or permits.

Parking’s sales manager, said: ‘Choice is the winner, and our sales fi gures confi rm that there remains a strong market demand for direct payment choices at the machine. Nonetheless, we recognise that some motorists also fi nd phone parking very convenient.’


CLEAR VIEW


Bailiff and enforcement company Whyte & Co has created a new software system, which allows a more visual representation of relevant information. This is the fi rst of its kind in the UK, said director of development, Alan Wood. The company’s information technology department was given the brief to improve and streamline case management, while ensuring the software was tightly integrated into the company’s core business system. Wood said: ‘This allows staff to see visuals of all our current,

past and future cases in the context of a UK map. Through the software we are able to fi lter results based on debt type, process stage, client and status; this ensures cases are quickly and effi ciently passed out to our national fi eld force and continually monitored – in real time – back at our headquarters. ‘The software speeds up the allocation of cases to the nearest suitable agent because rapid action is


important to streamline the recovery process and to ensure every case gets dealt with effi ciently.’

continued success in the enforcement sector. Cooper, who is a member of the BPA Council, is replaced as enforcement solutions director by Nigel Coltman, previously NSL’s general manager for the regions.

Creative Parking Solutions is launching a digital car park management system at a retail park in the Wiltshire town of Chippenham. The two main car parks at Hathaway Retail Park will be closely monitored 24-hours-a-day, seven- days-a-week, and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras have been positioned at the entrance and exit of the retail park. The system analyses the entry and exit images and


can identify an individual vehicle’s length of stay to the second.


The car park operator is aiming to change the composition of the car park from its current customer base of commuters and non-shoppers to a shopping-orientated clientele.


Using ANPR will reduce the need to issue tickets, which will have a positive environmental impact on the facility.
