A car parking company has fl own to the rescue of a three-year-old heart patient after his family’s holiday plans were dashed.
KENT’S ALPHA UPGRADE
Swindon-based parking machine manufacturer, Metric, has won a European tender to supply Swale Borough Council in Kent with 36 solar-powered pay-and- display machines.
The Metric Aura machines, which are coin-operated with alpha numeric keypads, have been purchased to upgrade
car parks in Sittingbourne, Faversham and the Isle of Sheppey.

Jeff Kitson, Swale Borough Council parking services manager, said: ‘It is anticipated that these parking payment units will deliver much improved reliability and enable us to provide excellent services to our customers.’
Liam Hey, from Leeds, was due to fl y to Menorca with his family when his pacemaker began to fl uctuate. They cancelled that fl ight and plans to re-book were dashed when travel company Thomas Cook refused to refund the deposit. Without the money, the family of fi ve could not afford to book another trip away. Bosses at UK Car Parking Services (UKCPS) have stepped in with a plan of action that could save the day.
Jim Whitehead, one of the managers of the
Leeds-based car park fi rm, has chartered a helicopter for the entire family. With the help of Heli-jet, Liam and his family – including mum, dad Matthew, and sisters Lauren, 16 and Kerry, 14 – will go on a 30-minute ride high above Leeds. And to make sure they do get a family holiday away together this summer, UK CPS is also gifting them £1,000.
