Paccor – the european manufacturer of rigid plastic food packaging built up from the acquisition of parts of the Huhtamaki, Veriplast and Pannunion businesses by Sun capital – said rising raw material prices are putting the viability of its netherlands-
based polystryrene vending cup business at risk. Paccor Food Service

UK-based film industry special effects company Asylum Models & effects designed this giant-sized Formula 1 racing car – made from 9,000 larger- than-life plastic bricks – for a tV commercial for Mclaren team sponsor Santander. Production of the 300mm by 100mm bricks was charged to rapid tooling and parts company Proto labs, which specialises in prototyping and short run production via cnc machining or injection moulding (which was used for this project because of the numbers required). it produced

bricks to complete, with the remaining 1,000 used for a winners’ rostrum. the main body of the car was split into a

chinese injection machinery maker Haitian international posted sales of rMB7.03bn (E850) for 2011. the figure was slightly
down on the 2010 result, which benefited from a backlog of orders delayed from 2009 due to the global recession, according to Haitian interna- tional chief strategy officer Prof Helmar Franz. Franz said the company had recorded a 22% compound
annual growth rate over the past five years. chemicals and silicones group wacker officially opened its new technical facility in South Korea last month. the facility, which is
located in the Pangyo techno Valley region of the Korean capital Seoul, brings together its regional silicones and polymers r&d, applications develop- ment and training activities. it includes a new laboratory to develop high perform- ance silicone formulations for electronics industry applications. “the Korea technical
