Schneider Form posts record results for 2011
German mouldmaker Schnei- der Form marked its 50th year in business by turning in a
record sales performance of E42m for 2011. the company, which
employs almost 300 people and specialises in large moulds for interior and exterior automotive compo- nents, matched that record sales performance with its biggest ever investment programme totalling E3.8m, according to managing director dr louis Schneider. the investments included three new large machining
units for the dettingen site and two deckel Maho HSc units for its plant in Portugal. other landmarks for its 50th
anniversary year included the grant of a patent for its optisize car bumper mould solution, which allows customers to speed up development times and has been used in 70 moulds over the past three years, and the production of its first moulds for carbon fibre composite part production. ❙

okuma adds vertical HSM
japanese machining equipment maker okuma has introduced a new vertical high speed precision machining centre targeted at the mould and die industry. the MP-46V is claimed to provide improved bed and column rigidity and a 30% increase in spindle acceleration compared to the compa- ny’s previous model, which is said to contribute to higher levels of machined surface quality. the new machine also uses okuma’s
thermo-Friendly system. this is claimed to compensate for temperature changes in the spindle, tool and rotary shafts, allowing the machine to be used for precision operations without warming up periods. ❙

Hasco adds to needle range
Hasco has extended its needle valve hot runner range with the launch of the Z107900 series, which is said to provide improved sealing features and a new more durable adjusting mechanism. the company says the
development specification for the new range included simple assembly, high flexibility in application and easy servicing. So it has opted for a modular design that allows needle assembly to be carried out from outside the platen, with fine adjustment of the heated system carried out using a standard screwdriver. in addition, each drive unit
is equipped with an adjust- ment mechanism that allows any misalignment of the centre lines. the Z107900 series is
available in hydraulic and pneumatic versions. two housing variants are offered in the hydraulic range - the Z107900 variant is intended for integration into the platen while the Z107920 is a flange type. the pneumatic model – the Z107910 – includes a built-in cylinder in the clamping plate. ❙

Mold-Masters pitches Melt-cube side gating
Melt-cube is a new linear side gating system from hot runner specialist Mold-masters claimed to provide a 20% higher pitch density than
24
traditional circular systems. the new design is said to
enable faster cycle times, better gate quality, and better results in demanding applications such

as in-mould labelling (iMl) due to the incorporation of an additional temperature control zone at the gate. the Melt-cube also utilises
Mold-Masters’ iFlow manifold brazing technology, which is claimed to improve flow balance. ❙
