as bushes to simplify integration into the mould. The DX models are available in 26mm and 30mm diameters, while the DY range are rear ejector types available in 28mm and 32mm diameters. Dolder Massara will show the BactiBlock anti-

microbial additive, developed by Nanobiomatters using a silver functionalised nano-clay to prevent the growth of bacteria, mildew and fungus in thermoplastics. According to Dolder, linking the silver to the clay helps dispersion of the active ingredient and helps to ensure consistent long term protection. Euromap shows that, in value terms, Italy is the third largest producer of plastics and rubber machinery in the world with a close to 10% share of a global market worth just over E23bn (China led in 2010 with a 29% share and Germany held 21%). Germany and China are also two of Italy’s top export

markets, together with France, US and Russia. All have seen solid value growth on 2010, according to Asso- comaplast. The association says its members have indicated the key themes in terms of plastics processing technology for Plast will be energy saving and simplified utilisation of recycled materials. And that applies to non-Italian exhibitors, too. German machine maker Arburg will show both its high performance Alldrive and cost optimised E-drive all- electric machines at the show. An Allrounder 270A Alldrive version will be producing micro parts using the company’s 8mm diameter micro injection unit; an Allrounder 370E E-drive will be producing lenses in liquid silicone rubber (LSR). The company will also show two Allrounder H

Hidrive hybrid machines – an Allrounder 570H and Allrounder 920H – in high speed packaging applications. The larger of the two machines will be running a material throughput of 67 kg/h, says the company. It will also show an Allrounder 375V vertical machine encapsulating cable connectors as part of an automated cell with a six-axis robot. Spanish mould compo-

nents group Cumsa will show its latest DX and DY ranges of double ejectors, which drive two plates to provide a compact long stroke ejection system. Aside from their compact construction, the double ejectors also function

drive equipped E-Series line – a 55 tonne Boy 55E and 35 tonne Boy 35E. The use of servo technology on the E machines is said to enable energy savings of up to 75% over standard hydraulic technology. The company will also run two 10 tonne Boy XS series machines, one of which will be configured for LSR processing. All machines feature the company’s latest generation Procan Alpha control. Austrian machine maker Engel will be producing

Mucell microcellular foam moulded oil sumps in polyamide on a 500 tonne Duo 3550/500 Pico machine, with integrated Viper 20 beam robot and energy-saving ecodrive technology. The machine is configured with the company’s FoamMelt option, whch fully integrates the Mucell hardware supplied by Trexel of the US into the Engel machine control unit. In this particular applica- tion, the Mucell technology is used to reduce weight and to ease filling of some of the thin wall mould features, which measure down to 1mm. Other exhibits on the Engel stand include a 200 tonne

all-electric E-Motion model producing thin wall round PP food container caps on a 4s cycle using in-mould labelling (IML) technology from Star Automation of Italy. The four cavity mould is by Schoettli of Switzerland. A second E-Motion machine will be producing syringe barrels in COC polymer with needles inserted in the moulding cycle using a four cavity pilot mould developed by Zahoransky of Germany. And a 120 tonne two component Victory series tiebar-less
