machine will be producing bottle openers in PC and TPE with a metallic insert placed by a Viper 12 robot. Italian hot runner firm Guzzini Engineering

will show its Pony BMC valve gate design, a new valve gate cold runner design for moulding of thermoset bulk moulding compounds. The new nozzle is manufactured from abrasion resistant 54 hrc steel and is designed for minimal material hang-up and simple cleaning. The company says the Pony BMC’s high efficiency cooling circuits provides a high degree of thermal isolation to prevent pre-curing. The valve is actuated using an oil-free pneumatic system. All-electric moulding technology is the main feature

on the KraussMaffei stand, with the company showing two machines from its high performance EX product line and one from the AX series for technical moulding applications. The line-up includes an 80 tonne EX 80- 380 SilcoSet model configured for processing liquid silicione rubber (LSR); an EX Cleanform model running a medical application, and a 280 tonne AX 280-750 unit. Maicopresse will show its new Serie Hybrid 1300 injection machine, part of a range extending from 58 to 1,600 tonnes clamping force. All models feature direct drive electric clamping and screw rotation, with an inverter driven hydraulic power pack used for the injection carriage movement, injection stroke, core pullers and ejectors. Italian ancillaries maker Moretto will show its latest

developments, including its new XDOX mini dryer. This uses the company’s OTX Spyro hopper, which is claimed to provide considerable energy savings over conven- tional systems. The standard unit is able to achieve dew points of up to -70˚C, with special versions available for medical, food industry and optical part production. Negri Bossi will be showing its latest energy-efficient

machine designs in Milan, headed up by the recently introduced EOS series of small hydraulic machines which are characterised by their space saving cantilevered two- platen clamp design and large mould space. Two models will be running at the show, an EOS 65 moulding caps and an EOS 80 LSR machine producing silicone teats. Both will be equipped with the optional Smart Energy system for reducing electricity consumption. The company will also demonstrate a 170 tonne

version of its Vesta all-electric design equipped with an SY100 robot from group company Sytrama. The cell will be moulding PS coffee stirrers on a 52-cavity mould. Hybrid technology is represented by a 220 tonne Janus model, again with Sytrama automation, producing airline cups on a four cavity mould. Moving up the size range, Negri Bossi will demon-

strate a 430 tonne Canbio SE machine producing a flower vase on a 75s cycle using gas injection. The Smart Energy option is said to cut energy usage by 45% in this application. A 650 tonne Vector machine will be moulding car PC/ABS headlamp shells on a two cavity mould while a 1,300 tonne BiPower unit completes the Negri Bossi line up. It will be producing pallets. Thin wall IML packaging production will be the main

theme on the Netstal stand. The company will be running a 120 tonne Elion all-electric machine in Milan producing in-mould labelled (IML) container on a cycle time of 3.6s. The cell includes a mould from Italian mouldmaker SCS, with IML automation by Campetella of Switzerland. The part is produced in a PP grade from Borealis. Elion machines include a range of energy saving

features, such as braking recuperation, which help achieve energy consumptions of up to 70% less than traditional hydraulic alternatives, says Netstal. Printing systems developer Omso will show its new

Servotuve M3 servo-drive printing machine for high speed decoration of parts such as tubes and closures. The machine is configured as a 12-mandrel version with up to three printing stations, which can accommodate silk screen and/or flexo units. Features of the M3 are said to include high registration accuracy for half tone reproduction and very fast format changeover. Ancillary equipment specialist Piovan will show a number of different version of its Lybra line of gravimet- ric and volumetric dosing units, including the Lybra GR version for masterbatch dosing in PET processing applications.

It will also demonstrate an automatic trolley-

mounted version of its Modula drying system that it developed for a major automotive customer. Incorporat- ing a DP644 dryer with PTU600, PTU800 and PTU1000 hoppers, the system provides individual control of drying in each hopper to minimise energy consumption. Other equipment on display incudes the Easy3
