Norman Baker is a regular speaker at parking events and champions the industry from within government. He has been a supporter of much of the work of the BPA in recent years, although as a keen advocate for green travel, there are issues where he poses challenging questions to the parking sector. Paul Necus is president of the BPA. He has chosen VoiceAbility as this year’s president’s charity and will be explaining the work of the organisation. Patrick Troy is chief executive offi cer for the BPA. He has been in post for three years and, during that time, he has developed the political profi le of the BPA, particularly in recent months with amendments of the Freedoms Bill. Sandra Smith has worked for the Canadian Municipality of Whistler for 23 years. She worked on the development of a parking and transportation plan for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.

SPEAKERS AT PARKEX: A GUIDE TO WHO’S WHO


Manny Rasores is chair of the BPA Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers Special Interest Group. He is also a parking consultant and owner of Mr Parking consultancy service. Steve Clark is head of the BPA Approved Operator Scheme. He will outline to visitors proposed updates to the Scheme as well as the progress of the Independent Appeals Service. Jamie Waller, managing director of JBW, has been working with social welfare expert, John Kruse and co-founder of the Enforcement Law Reform Group Philip Evans, to release a white paper detailing the scope for improvements to the bailiff service through legislative change. Visitors can hear all three speakers discussing the reforms. Peter O’Driscoll is managing director at Parkmobile. Along with Robin Bevan of PayByPhone he will be outlining the technological solutions available to parking operators, including apps and various parking payment options.
