Superstitions/rituals: Scientist! A dream planted in his head 22 years ago may come to
fruition within five years if Pierre-Antoine Morvan has his way. It was during his summer holidays as an eight-year-old
that the Frenchman enrolled in an internship which would change his life forever. Encouraged by his parents, Morvan took to working on multihull boats that summer. It was love at first sight and he has been sailing ever since. Fast forward to 2012 and Morvan, or PAM to his friends,
has earned a tour card on the Alpari World Match Racing Tour, which begins with Match Race Germany in May. While Morvan has modest goals for this season – podium finishes and giving the other skippers a tough time
– he admitted he dreams of winning a world title by 2017. When asked where he sees himself in the next five years,
the 30-year-old skipper confidently replied: “At the same place, but with a world match racing tour title! “Receiving a tour card was a great joy for me and my team
(Vannes Agglo Sailing Team) and the result of several years’ hard work. “Tis season we know it won’t be easy because we don’t know
the other teams. A podium is possible and can be very good.” No stranger to success in the past, don’t be surprised if Morvan fulfils his dreams of becoming world champion.
