PRESS CLIPPINGS: MASS EFFECT 3

MASS EFFECT 3 is the newest release from BioWare and the final part in the space shooter RPG trilogy.

Although it currently hasn’t matched Mass Effect 2’s high 95 average Metacritic score, it’s still scored phenomenally well with an average of 92. Players can import their

own Commander Shepard into the game and make “galaxy-defining” decisions. “The end result is a game that is customised not just around your preferences but your own sense of morality and even sexuality.”1

The story itself “isn’t just incredible by game standards: it puts most movies to shame. You’ll care more about Liara than Princess Leia.”2 “There’s also a co-operative mode – something all Mass players, surely, have craved.”3 However, some say BioWare has focused more on shooting in Mass Effect 3.

“Add in a few too many instances where you’re asked to fire from a mounted turret, and it’s hard not to come away with the sense you’re playing a second-rate Gears of War.”4 But although “its flaws are apparent, when Mass Effect 3 is good, it’s excellent. In short, it does its forebears and concept proud, and for that alone we as an industry should be extremely grateful.”5

Capcom LOOK WHO’S TALKING

“We might lose 20,000 copies of Mass Effect 3 in the UK for the consumer that can’t figure out another store to go to, but that would surprise me. [Our retail partners] are great for us. If one goes away, the other guys pick up the slack. I really don’t see it as anything other than a very temporary dislocation.”
