Camera detects potential problems Ideal Industries has launched the HeatSeeker 160 thermal imaging camera for electri-

cians, maintenance engineers and consultants who need a highly accurate, easy to use troubleshooting solution at an affordable price. Delivering a high resolution thermal image, the HeatSeeker 160 is fully radiometric, meaning it will capture temperature measurements over the entire image. Offering a wide temperature range of -10°C to 250°C with an industry standard accuracy of ±2°C, this addition to Ideal’s infrared camera range also features hot and cold tracking cur- sors, voice annotation and a replaceable battery. The HeatSeeker 160 provides a safe and easy-to-use means of making accurate non-contact temperature measurements. Designed for electrical servicing, preventative maintenance, building inspections and energy audits, the HeatSeeker 160 can identify potential problems before they occur by detecting hot spots on equip- ment such as motors, switch gear, pumps, distribu- tion panels, computer equipment and pipework. Two new marine approved sensors Impress Sensors & Systems has launched two

new marine-approved sensors for level and pres- sure measurement of storage and ballast tanks. The LMK 458 is a hydrostatic probe with ceramic diaphragm suitable for level measure- ment in marine storage/ballast tanks and draught monitoring, as well as water industry applica- tions such as desalinisation plants and drinking water filtration. The probe uses a capacitive ceramic sensor element that provides a high resistance to overpressures. The transmitter is protected to IP68 and provides good resistance to chemicals and high long-term stability. Impress Sensors has also launched a marine-approved pressure transmitter. The DMK 458 is a pressure transmitter with ceramic diaphragm that is suitable for monitoring pressures in a variety of marine and offshore applications, including loading and unloading systems, level measurement in ballast and storage tanks, draught mon- itoring, and anti-heeling systems used on ferries and cargo ships. Ethernet connectivity added to sensor family

Banner Engineering has expanded its iVu touchscreen vision sensor family with the iVu Plus which adds Ethernet connectivity and advanced inspection capabilities to the iVu’s intuitive platform. The iVu Plus is said to continue the iVu tradition of delivering complex inspection capabilities and flexibility in an affordable, easy-to-apply sensor. Ethernet connectivity enables iVu Plus sensors to share inspection data directly with PLCs, PCs or other factory devices, making communications and control easier on the plant floor. The iVu Plus is also capable of storing up to 30 inspections, accommodating rapid product changeover, while a new sort sensor function facilitates sorting of as many as 10 patterns in a single inspection.

Configuration is accomplished through a menu-driven user interface designed for efficiency and ease of use, with no PC required. The iVu Plus family includes integrated touch screen TG and BCR (Bar Code Reader) models, as well as remote versions of both. Banner

www.bannerengineering.com Sensors ‘wake

up’ to measure Sensirion recently launched new differ- ential pressure sensors. The new SDP6x6 sensor line features especially low energy consumption, making it suitable for long-term battery opera- tion. The SDP606 and SDP616 sensors are designed to enter sleep mode after performing each measurement. They wake up when a ‘measure’ command is received and enter sleep mode again after completing the measurement. This drastic reduction in power con- sumption allows the new sensors to be used in battery powered applications. The new differential pressure sensors

are suitable solutions for medical and HVAC applications, where high accuracy and reliability with very low energy con- sumption are required. Sensirion www.sensirion.com Enter 336

Micro-Epsilon is launching a new range of colour recognition sensors in the UK.

The sensors are said to provide up to 20 times higher resolution than conventional colour recog- nition sensors and offer more stable, reliable colour measure- ments, even on shiny or reflec- tive surfaces. They are also able to recognise small variations in colour along a target object or material, for example, in the pro- duction of leather goods, wood veneers and vehicle interiors.

True colour recognition is required in many industry sec- tors, enabling companies to select, monitor, grade and sort various types of coloured objects involved in manufacturing, auto- mated handling, warehousing, packaging, wrapping and other production processes.

Measured objects can take the form of solids or liquids and the user may also have a need to recognise the colours of transpar- ent surfaces such as coatings or labels, as well as LEDs or lamps. With its new colorSENSOR series, Micro-Epsilon is now able to offer customers in the UK one of the widest ranges of colour recognition sensors in the world – available from a single source. Ohmmeter for

low resistance Equally at home in the laboratory, the workshop or in the field, Megger’s new heavy duty DLRO10HD low resistance ohmmeter is said to combine rugged construction with accuracy and ease of use. It features an internal rechargeable battery and can also operate from a mains supply.

This new test set is built into a case that provides an IP65 ingress protec- tion rating when closed and an IP54 rating when the instrument is in use and operating from battery power. With 0.1 microohm resolution, 0.2% basic accuracy, and a dedicated mode for use with inductive loads, the DLRO10HD is for applications such as checking the integrity of welded joints and verifying winding resistance in large motors and transformers. DLRO10HD heavy-duty low resis- tance ohmmeters are supplied, as standard, with a set of test leads fitted with high-quality duplex hand spikes featuring lights to remotely indicate when a test is complete or inadvertent- ly connected to live supply. Test leads with Kelvin clips are an option. Megger T: 01304 502100 www.megger.com Enter 338
