he ethical and legal requirements to protect workers from risk of electrocution are stronger today than ever before. The only way to completely ensure safety is by insisting on the use of Safety Switches in the workplace rather than ordinary rotary isolators. Katko Safety Switches, which are fully accredited and approved, are based on state- of-the-art technology and testing procedures. ACOB (UK) has introduced its latest range larger diameter (350-800mm) flanged pipes for modular pipework installations. Ideal for custom designed pipework solutions, the new range of 350-800mm diameter pipework sections are manufactured in powder coated mild steel, hot-dip galvanised steel, or stainless steel. Wall thicknesses are 1mm for ventilation systems up to 500mm dia, 2mm with shock explosion proof certification to 3 bar overpressure and 3mm wall thickness on request for higher capacities. Pipe sections are supplied as standard with a 10mm lip and captivated, spinning flanges at both ends. Alternatively, welded-on flanges may be specified, or pipes with plain ends for customer supplied connection pieces.

Clipper tea bags another four linx printers

F

airtrade tea manufacturer Clipper Tea has installed four more printers from coding and marking specialist Linx Printing Technologies. Clipper says it chose the Linx 7300 Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ) printers due to their low cost, ease of use, minimised downtime and extensive features including a USB backup facility. Clipper used Linx Printing Technologies’ CompleteCode leasing method, which covers all costs within one easy

monthly payment. It brings to eight the total number of Linx printers operated by Clipper. The Linx printers are being used to print ‘Best Before End’ dates and traceability codes, for internal use, onto cardboard boxes containing Clipper’s range of Fair Trade and organic tea bags. Linx Black fast-drying 1240 ink is being used and the production line operates eight hours a day, five days a week for 50 weeks of the year. Steve Norris, Engineering and Maintenance Manager for Clipper at Beaminster, Dorset, adds: “Reliability, cost and after sales support were the biggest factors for choosing Linx again, when we were reviewing our current printer needs. ”We are a Fairtrade company and we believe in forming lasting relationships with suppliers.”

New low cost embeddable accelerometers

CB Piezotronics, a world leader in vibration, acoustic, pressure, force and torque sensors, has launched a new range of low cost miniature accelerometers that can be embedded into a wide variety of high volume and commercial applications such as shock and impact detection of circuit boards or components. The new 660 series offers high specification measurements from a low cost accelerometer housed in a flexible industry-standard package. The unique sensors are housed in TO-5 or TO-8 transistor cans to give the end-user a choice of installing the sensor directly onto a printed circuit board (PCB) or to use via flying leads embedded into a system. With low initial costs and multiple price breaks for volume orders, the 660 series offers an ideal solution for manufacturers wishing to incorporate high specification vibration measurements into their products.

P The range

includes a choice of charge mode, ICP® and voltage mode outputs with an optional four-wire device with temperature output. Covering frequency ranges from 0.4 to 10kHz (±3dB) and amplitude levels up to 500g, the 660 series offers a solution for a wide array of applications.
