Exhibition preview Southern Manufacturing 2012

State-of-the art multi-tasking machine Yamazaki Mazak is to bring its Integrex i-

200 S to Southern Manufacturing 2012.The Integrex i-200 S is a multi- tasking machine suited to subcontract manufacturing and providing versatility and performance that is both environ- mentally friendly and energy efficient. More than 10,000 Integrex machines have being sold across the world since the first generation machine was intro- duced in 1983. The new generation Imachine is capable of completing all turning and machining operations, from raw material to finished component, in one hit, one set-up and on one machine. Tony Saunders, UK sales director for Mazak says: “The new Integrex i-200 S is a state-of-the art multi-tasking machine

At Southern Manufacturing 2012 Industrial Tooling Corp (ITC) will be introducing a number of new product developments. Among the new offerings is the 5021 Cyber Series of 5 flute harmonic end mills. For difficult to reach surfaces and cavities in hard steels and aerospace alloys, the 5021 Cyber Series range promotes high performance levels when processing difficult materials. The solid carbide 5021 is Cupro coated to enhance tool life and machining stability. The cutters demonstrate stability and rigidity that is credit to the unequal flute spacing that reduces machining noise and vibration. The right hand cutting and right hand helix range is available in diameters from 3mm to 32mm with radius options from 0.5mm to 4mm dependent upon diameter. A number of other end mill ranges will also be on show including the new 6051 Cyber Series End Mill range, the 2161 Cyber Series and 2161 Radius Series of two flute end mills for machining aluminium. The new 2201 Cyber Series of two flute long series solid carbide end mills is also designed for alu- minium machining. ITC (Stand N67) T: 01827 304500 www.itc-ltd.co.uk

Open Mind Technologies AG will present the new functions of its CAM solution hyperMILL, demonstrating how more perfor- mance can be achieved in less pro- gramming time, at Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2012. The hyperMILL is based on auto- mated programming and the utili-

sation of existing manufacturing know-how, by offering various functions that help you gain simple, user-friendly and time- saving workflows.

Adhesives for

all applications Henkel will show its well-known range of Loctite engineering adhesives and sealants, as well as its ability in the field of low pressure over-moulding delicate parts at Southern Manufacturing. You can see a broad selection of

Loctite anaerobic, cyanoacrylate instant adhesives and epoxies, all formulated to fulfil the most demanding of appli- cations in the field of general bonding, thread locking, thread sealing, retaining and gasketing.

Henkel will also show its Health and Safety range. The company provides a comprehensive series of hazard label free engineering adhesives that cover the lion’s share of applications. Stand visitors will see Henkel

MacroMelt for electronics assembly in action on two demonstration stations. There will be a give-away of USB sticks which have been loaded with technical and application data. Henkel (Stand R24 & S25) T: 01442 278235 www.henkel.com Enter 318

New five-axis cycles as well as shape offset roughing and finish- ing provide the basis for more efficient machining of complex surfaces. hyperMAXX, the strat- egy for high-performance rough- ing, the CAD system hyperCAD and CAD-integrated solutions for SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor will all be on display. hyperMILL implements an advanced technology: intelligent macros. Users can save predefined

rules and conditions for every stage of the machining process. hyperMILL automatically assigns and adjusts the job steps to the corresponding geometry based on these rules and depending on geometry information such as diameter, depth, open or closed pockets.

Laser marking and World launch of two new products

HepcoMotion’s PRT2 Precision Ring Track offers the system designer the means to create a variety of circuits. Elements from this range will form part of the main working exhibit at Southern Manufacturing and also a separate system demonstrating a spiral configuration. The PRT2 Timing Belt Ring which is introduced in six sizes, com- plete with pulleys and toothed timing belts, provides a clean and inte- grated solution for driven rotary motion. The HepcoMotion design has a self-aligning V-groove in the pulley which eliminates the need for flanges. High driving force and speed – up to 5m/s at the periphery – are said to be complemented by accuracy and low backlash. Requiring no lubrication or re-tensioning, these additions also run quietly. HepcoMotion’s new LMI Linear Measuring Indicator will also be launched at the show. This easy-to-install system can also be adapted for rotary applications where angular measurement is required. LMI provides repeatable, precise measurement to improve productivity and reduce rejects in industrial applications. The LMI will be teamed with the com- pany’s GV3 linear slide system to guide the sensor head in paral- lel to coded magnetic tape. This demonstration will also show the merits of the HepcoMotion carriage locking system that provides extra stability for consistent and pre- cise length control. LMI is suited to the HepcoMotion SL2 range of standard stainless steel linear motion components.

JANUARY 2012 Factory Equipment

precision bending Trumpf is set to focus on its expertise in laser technology for product marking and precision bending at this year’s Southern Manufacturing event. Two Trumpf TruMark laser marking machines will feature at the show. The TruMark 5020 with diode-pumped fibre laser combines high power, high repeti- tion rates and variably definable pulse duration. It is designed for tough appli- cations requiring high power and short cycle times. Also on display will be the TruMark Station 1000 desktop laser sys- tem with a TruMark 3130 marking laser. Trumpf will demonstrate its TruMark Station 5000 with the TruMark 5020 fiber marking laser. More than 10,000 Trumpf TruBend

press brakes have been installed around the world and their popularity is primarily due to their ease of use, pre- cision and productivity. The TruBend 7036 is a good example of what’s available. Thanks to its high speed and acceleration of the beam and back- gauge, this is said to be one of the world’s fastest bending machines. Trumpf (Stand P36) T: 0844 4820188 www.uk.trumpf.com Enter 319
