CHRISTIAN SCHINDLER Christian Schindler takes up the position of general manager UK and Ireland for Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines. Schindler was previously Lufthansa’s general manager for Korea, and originally joined the German carrier in 1991 on an academic trainee programme.


NIKI LAUDA Niki Lauda, former F1 world champion and founder of Austrian airline NIKI Luftfahrt, has been appointed to the board of Air Berlin as a non-executive director. The appointment comes as Air Berlin acquires the remaining 51.1 per cent stake in NIKI Luftfahrt.


DAVID SURLEY


David Surley has joined Cambridge Airport’s management team as senior business development manager. He was previously head of customer services and route development at Oxford Airport. Surley has also held management positions at Star Alliance, ANA, Helios Airways and STA Travel.


THOMAS DREXLER


Thomas Drexler has been appointed as director of rail at Amadeus. He was previously vice-president of sales at German national rail company Deutsche Bahn. Drexler had previously worked at Start Amadeus – currently Amadeus Germany – in corporate development and strategy.


DAVID SPARROW David Sparrow has been


appointed vice-president of sales at Kempinski Hotels. He was previously director of sales and marketing at Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts. He started his career as a graduate trainee at Crest Hotels, before joining the Hyatt group, where he had various sales roles.


WINGS TRAVEL MANAGEMENT Wings Travel Management has made two senior appointments. Paul East (left) takes up the role of chief operating officer, while David Pitty (right) has been appointed global director of strategic client management. Both are internal appointments – East was previously chief commercial officer and Pitty was client business manager for UK and Europe. East joined Wings from FCm Travel Solutions and has more than 20 years’ experience in the travel industry, starting his career at Britannic Travel. Pitty began working with Wings in 2009, following sales roles with HRG and as sales and marketing director at Co-operative Travel Management.


SARAH GAZE Eurostar has appointed Sarah Gaze as general manager, trade relations and business development. She joined Eurostar in 2003 as sales support manager. Since then she has held various sales roles, including business development manager and heading the UK business trade team.


LUKE GOGGIN Luke Goggin has been appointed as head of corporate sales at British Airways. He was previously head of sales at Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants. His first role in sales was with recruitment agency Robert Walters, followed by SI Corporate Development, before joining Whitbread.


ANDREW PEROLLS BCD Meetings & Incentives has appointed Andrew Perolls as managing director EMEA. Perolls was previously chief operating officer at Chambers Travel Management, where he was responsible for all Chambers’ offices in the UK and Europe.


ANDREAS HENIG FCm Travel Solutions has appointed Andreas Henig to the new role of systems and solutions manager for operations in the EMEA region. He joined FCm in 2007 as product manager for its online business, and more recently has focused on national and multinational online booking-tool implementations.


JENNIFER FOX Jennifer Fox has been appointed president of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. She was previously with IHG, most recently as chief operating officer, managing operations for Europe. Before that Fox had a number of senior roles with IHG, including global brand manager for Sheraton and Intercontinental.
