Flexibility, strength and speed from Legrand’s Atlantic-E range

Legrand has launched a new range of steel enclosures that delivers greater fl exibility and strength, and signifi cantly improved installation speed. The Atlantic-E range

is available in 27 sizes ranging from 300x200x150mm to 1200x800x300mm (HxWxD), offers IP66 weatherproof protection against water and dust, and has the maximum IK rating against mechanical impact of IK10. The new enclosures are supplied ready to use with

a removable plain mounting plate and feature a wide selection of time-saving accessories. These include Cabstop plates for fast direct cable entry, perforated plates that simplify fi xing equipment within the enclosure, and a ready-to-use chassis that is perfect for the integration of modular devices. Further features include dual locks for additional

security on larger sized enclosures, optional mounting lugs for heavy loads up to 300kg, and fully reversible doors with a 130º opening angle for ease of access. Atlantic-E is the latest addition to Legrand’s portfolio

of industrial enclosures, which also includes Atlantic stainless steel and Marina GRP enclosures, and IP55 and IP66 plastic industrial boxes. Legrand’s industrial product offering incorporates a

vast range of accessories designed for use with or inside industrial enclosures.

Hager has launched a seven-pole, plug and play lighting control system that can be used for both digital and standard lighting installations. The Klik.system is an easy-to-instal, prefabricated

wiring solution that includes: lighting marshalling boxes with between four and 12 outlets; a conduit box/surface connector for single luminaire connection; prewired pluggable occupancy sensors; and prewired plugs with three or fi ve metre leads. The same plug and socket interface is used for

Free junction box guide from Hager

Hager has introduced a free Junction Box Guide. It has been produced in response to Amendment 1 of the 17th Edition, which specifi es what can be used for maintenance-free connections. Product manager for Hager, Jane Yorke, said: ‘Junction

boxes are generally the easiest and fastest means of making connections when cable needs to be extended. However, many people do not use the correct type of junction box for the installation and are therefore not compliant with BS7671.’ Amendment 1 of the 17th Edition clarifi es which

products meet the specifi c requirements for electrical connections described in Regulation 526.3. Compliance is marked with the symbol MF. The 16-page guide outlines the requirements of the regulations and how they affect cable connections and junction boxes. It concludes by outlining a product selection guide

based on a decision tree and also outlines Hager’s range of traditional junction boxes, its downlighter and new maintenance-free junction boxes.

connecting all luminaires, whether switchstart, digital and/or emergency lighting. This interchangeability makes it easy to upgrade a

standard lighting installation to a fully dimmable option at a later date by simply unplugging the existing fi ttings and sensors and plugging in the new ones. For digital lighting control, contractors can use klik.

development of a complete prefabricated solution for an electrical installation. The complete solution consists of prefabricated wiring sections, which when connected together provide a complete pluggable solution from the sub-distribution board to the luminaire.

Medical centre protected by Nittan

Nittan, a leading UK manufacturer of conventional and addressable fi re detection products, has seen the fi rst UK installation of its new EV-PS analogue addressable photoelectric smoke sensor with built in sounder. The product was installed into a new medical centre in Bridgwater, Somerset. To provide the building with the latest fi re protection,

Fullstop Fire and Security has installed a fi re detection system featuring Evolution EV-PS sensors from Nittan. Unlike other smoke sensors on the market which

require a separate sounder base to be installed, the Evolution EV-PS optical smoke sensor comes with the sounder integrated within the sensor itself. Even with its compact size, the EV-PS incorporates

the latest alarm technology for exceptional reliability and performance, including ASIC design, EEPROM addressable capability, low monitoring current and a chemically etched stainless steel insect screen. The EV-PS is compatible with Nittan UB-4-EV and EV-PSBCN bases.

Sylvania launches direct LED replacement for 50W halogen fl ood

With the launch of the new 350lm ES50 from Sylvania, retrofi t LED lamps have fi nally come of age. The new lamp is the fi rst LED retrofi t to have the power to replace a 50W halogen – the hugely popular workhorse of accent and display lighting – while staying within the limits for maximum lamp dimensions specifi ed by IEC. This ensures it can be fi tted into all GU10 and GZ10-type luminaires, opening up the benefi ts of LED lighting to the whole lighting market. Belgium-based Sylvania is still innovating in GU10

technology with a product range fi rst launched nearly 15 years ago. The new product offers outstanding performance of 350 lumen output and up to 25,000 hours of life. The new design strikes a balance between heat sink size and space between the cooling fi ns to achieve clear air circulation and effective heat evacuation. The result is a smaller, lighter lamp delivering a higher 350 lumen output, to offer class-leading performance that sets a new benchmark for LEDs.
