Launched in 1997 in the lettings sector, gas-elec pioneered combined gas and electrical safety inspection services in the UK. Now it has expanded its original market from £270 million per annum to a potential £2 billion a year by developing a range of services aimed at the homeowner, home-buyers/sellers, the buy to let investor and the care home sector. Gas-elec is seeking gas, heating and plumbing engineers or 16th/17th Edition/2391 or 2382 electricians to join its UK-wide team of safety inspection franchisees. Also available are a limited number of regional management franchise resales. Two safety inspection franchises are available – the original gas-elec franchise where engineers are trained to test both gas and electrical appliances and gas installations, and the Electrical Inspection Franchise for specialised electrical safety inspections. The business is driven by legislation requiring landlords and managing agents to organise hundreds of thousands of certificated safety inspections every year. Increasingly stringent legislation is creating a fast-growing consumer demand for a variety of focused safety inspection services in the vast homeowner/buyer markets as well as the leisure, commercial and industrial sectors.
