Énergie gym opens in Wales
wannabe franchisee wins eurostar vouchers
The énergie Group has further penetrated the UK market with the opening of its first Welsh gym. Fit4less by énergie in Port
Talbot opened in October with attendance from ex-Welsh Interna- tional footballer, John Hartson, and Welsh middleweight and light heavyweight champion, Nicky Piper. The club opening marks the 15th Fit4less in the énergie estate. Co-owner and general manager, James Taylor believes Fit4less has everything to make it a brand champion in Wales. He said: “You cannot argue with the price proposition and high quality of product Fit4less has to offer. We’re giving customers excellent equipment and facilities for a fraction of the traditional cost of going to a gym.
“The response to us opening has been incredible. The online joining process is seamless and allowed us to put resources into marketing and promotions to raise our awareness.” Earlier this year, the énergie Group announced plans to open 45 Fit4less clubs by the end of 2012.

n Competition winner John lin has won £100 worth of eurostar vouchers after attending the national Franchise exhibition in october. The budding entrepreneur was picked at random from a list of high-level investors who were invited to attend the event, all on the look out for a potential franchise.
John says: “I found the exhibition very useful, and there was a good mix of companies from different industries there. It was really helpful to be able
to discuss things face-to-face with franchisors and ask questions. “In particular I am looking to invest in a large and successful franchise, which will guarantee a return.”
When he finds the time, John says he would like to spend his Eurostar vouchers on a trip to France. He adds: “I’m pretty busy at the moment, but as soon as I have some free time I’d like to head over to France and then hire a car and travel to Eastern Europe, as I’ve never been there before.”

Over the next five years, the company plans to treble its number of non- traditional outlets across the UK and Ireland, creating more than 3,000 jobs. “Non-traditional growth will be an integral part of Subway stores’ development, overall expansion and ongoing strategy over the next five years in the UK and Ireland. Having the opportunity to meet those operating in the convenience and forecourt sector, at events like these, means that we can look to tailor our offering, making sure we are meeting their needs.”
New Year, new start? Don’t let your fear of the unknown hold you back
There’s nothing like a new year to make a change. Many
are held back by job security, a fear of the unknown and think they have to go it alone. They aren’t aware that franchising can provide a great route into business via a proven and well established system. As a franchisor for more than 18 years, I have met many franchisees who have turned their lives around. I had one couple who owned a greengrocers and invested
in a franchise because they wanted more flexibility.
Another chap in his 50s was facing
redundancy and needed job security. He wanted to utilise his previous managerial experience and leave the day-to-day running to his staff. Franchising provided a solution. With the back up of a proven franchise system, more and more people are taking control of their own destiny.
