“Franchisees can also proactively

approach businesses that may need alteration services, such as a hotel that needs uniforms altered for it staff. Of course, franchisees that are proactive will be more successful, but sales isn’t what this business is about. Good customer service and management skills are key,” says Nigel. Marine engineer and ex-navy

serviceman, Garry Millington joined the Zip Yard in May 2011, when he decided to set up his own centre in Llandudno, Wales.

sold other successful businesses, but decided the time had come to put down his roots, settle down and make the most of the excellent customer service skills he had developed along the way. He says: “There comes a time when you

have to take stock of your life and think about the future. “I’d been thinking about running my own

franchise for a good few months and the opportunity to buy the Zip Yard franchise for the Llandudno area came just at the right time. “I first found out about the company at

a franchise exhibition I visited in early 2011 and I liked the concept of the Zip Yard because I can see how in today’s modern times people either don’t have the time or the knowledge to do their own alterations. “Also my sister runs a bridal shop and

my mother owns a clothing label, so working in this industry runs in my family.”

He says his time in the navy definitely

helped him to get his business off the ground successfully. “Working in the navy I acquired a wealth

of skills, including important managerial skills, which really helped. “I’ve enjoyed going all over the world

to famous marinas and being part of the whole yachting scene working for people who demand the very best in life. They expect nothing but the highest quality of service and I bring this level of service to my clients at the Zip Yard.” For more information on the Zip Yard, get in touch today. n
