M9 moulded connectors
Heavy duty connector features continuous EMC shielding
Developed in response to demand for a heavy duty electrical connector with continuous EMC shielding, Multi-Contact has introduced the 16BV-GS.
Said to be suitable for use with power supply systems using frequency inverters, this round, single-pole device is based on the company’s 16BV. Designed for use in rugged conditions, such as those encountered with slurry or ‘mud’ pumps in the oil and gas industry, this provides touch protection when in the unmated state, while bayonet fixing ensures a secure connection. The shielding provides electromagnetic attenuation of 65dB up to 100MHz.
Available from Binder, the Series 702 range of M9 moulded connec- tors has been extended with the introduction of a compact shielded version.
The straight versions are 8mm shorter at only 45mm and right-angled versions reduced to 38mm. The connectors are pro- tected to IP67 and are available in two, three, four, five, seven and eight pole versions. They also have gold-plated contacts. Moulded on standard 2m or 5m PUR cables, these are suitable for applications where space is at a premium, such as in instrumenta- tion equipment, sensors, scanning equipment and pneumatic valves. The connector has been tested to IP65 and IP67, is rated to 1000V, with the rated current 530A. A remote indication of whether the con- nector is mated can be provided with an optional microswitch. In addi-
tion, high quality screwed glands ensure reliable contact with the cable shield without impairing its integrity. Multi-Contact

Designed for hostile environments, Souriau’s 8D Double Flange (38999 Series III) secure PCB connection enables the panel fixing to be separated from the PCB connection.
The first flange of the 8D Double Flange is fixed to the panel using a jam nut mounting system, and the second flange is there to hold the printed circuit board in position. This separation between the two means that shocks and vibrations are not transmitted to the contacts, ensuring greater robustness. The company can supply MIL-STD-1560 layouts in all sizes (from nine to 25). The contacts have no shoulder, which means it is also possible to solder them to boards of varying thickness by reflow or wave soldering. A zinc-nickel protective coating is offered as standard. In addition to being RoHS compliant, the connector also has the advantage of offering high resistance to salt spray, and ensures good continuity of electrical contact at the same time. Souriau
